1. I've said it before
everything I feared when I marched in '03 has happened. This is one time I hate being right.

At least the poor soldier finally figured out what you and I knew before the war started.

5. We knew and marched in Europe. Guess they knew too and wanted
it exactly that way maybe? A long war on purpose? Because a "nation at war" swallows PATRIOT etc. more easily?

8. The rank and file are just following their orders
Unfortunately the were bushwhacked by cheapskates Rumsfeld and Co who did not care that they were gambling with our young soldiers lives they took the gamble and despite the rapid success at first they were unprepared to enforce the peace Piss Poor Planning to secure the Peace is there fault especially when they dissed the Rank and file leadership from Gen Shinseki on down!

19. Cheapskates? I suspect Haliburton et al have received their
checks right on time; payment in full.

Wonder why this government cannot extend the same business ethic to their "all volunteer" army.

The question we should be asking is WHERE THE HELL IS THE MONEY GOING?

There is virtually no limit on military spending. This is a travesty and AMERICA IS BEING ROBBED BLIND!

3. What did they imagine?
Their lack of imagination, foresight, and reason is precisely the crux of the problem.

12. true, especially when key military advisers did imagine
The guy Kerry always mentioned, former chair of the joint chiefs, Shensecky (can't begin to spell it correctly) as well as others.
Rumsfeld and Bush REFUSED to listen to them and many thousands of our soldiers and Iraqis have died because of it.

Anyone with a lick of sense knew that we weren't going to be greeted as "liberators". That's just asinine.

is if these corporate idiots decide to "discover" the truth. It has to be their discovery, their history, their breaking story.

Maybe we could use a made up proxy "deep throat" to provide them the information... fake them into thinking its their big break.

10. Hell,shout louder
The story of Rumsfeld and the reservist is being downplayed on our "liberal" media as well...Kudos to that kid and to those who cheered wildly behind him (later sound bytes have this part cut out as well as the laughter that greeted Rummy's ridiculous response).

Ive read nothing further about those who are refusing orders to report for duty either.....or those who refused to go on that refueling mission due to inadequate equipment, lack of armor and ammo.

But the truth is sort of difficult to stifle for long...........slowly I turned, step by step......

13. Dick Cheney, 1992:
"And the question in my mind is how many additional American casualties is Saddam worth? And the answer is not very damned many. So I think we got it right, both when we decided to expel him from Kuwait, but also when the president made the decision that we'd achieved our objectives and we were not going to go get bogged down in the problems of trying to take over and govern Iraq... All of a sudden you've got a battle you're fighting in a major built-up city, a lot of civilians are around, significant limitations on our ability to use our most effective technologies and techniques. Once we had rounded him up and gotten rid of his government, then the question is what do you put in its place? You know, you then have accepted the responsibility for governing Iraq." -- Dick Cheney, 1992.

***********************
For those of us who listened to all the lies about Vietnam (I'm 57 y/o and new they were lies in 1966); the moment "Iraq" began being mentioned by Cheney and others in the spring/summer of 2002, ....well, let's just say that among the many things one would never want to say 'I told you so' is what the entire world recognizes as the colossally illegal, inhuman, collection of crimes the USA has committed at the cost of the lives and well-being of its own wonderful troops and against all those Iraqi's and others whose lives have either ended or been forever ruined.

And, now, does anyone wonder why so many of us are fighting with everything we have to prevent the last remnants of our franchise of democracy from being destroyed.

"When Did Bush Know?"

15. I knew it. I said it. I told them it wasn't a one year commitment nor
a two year commitment. I told them, but they wouldn't listen. And then when they tried to change the premise, "Oh, yeah, well we knew it would be more involved. Bush just said that so we could go in." I replied, "So, in other words, you don't have a problem with presidents who lie?"

16. Hey Karl.
You know it. Two years ago the millions of us who pointed out a scenario such as this were labeled "Pro-Saddam" or "anti-troop" by the media.

Apparently no lessons about the need for deliberation before war were learned.
