Jerry Springer to launch new liberal talk radio show
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041210/NEWS01/412100392/1056

By John Kiesewetter
Enquirer staff writer

TV talk-show host Jerry Springer will debut a three-hour weekday radio talk show here in January.

The former Cincinnati mayor and TV anchor will launch a 9 a.m.-noon call-in show on WSAI-AM (1530) when the Clear Channel station switches from oldies music to liberal talk. He wants to syndicate the show nationally from Cincinnati, he said.

"There is clearly an opportunity for new voices to be heard today around the country," Springer, 60, said Thursday. "There is so much going on in the world today, and to be part of that dialogue will be fun."

Darryl Parks, operations director for Clear Channel's four AM stations here, said the station had been negotiating with the former politician for months.

10. switches from oldies music to liberal talk
I'm guessing if the station is switching from oldies music to liberal it would have to be liberal based.

9. Springer's going to be great.
Don't give in so easy, Democrats. Jerry Springer actually represents a good chance for Ohio Dems to move into the governor's mansion, or if we're really lucky, the US Senate.

Before his stupid TV show, Springer was Cincinnati's voice for progressive thought. Long after the "paid a hooker with a check" scandal, Cincinnatians gave him another chance, and he had an admirable career as a local news anchorman, ending each broadcast with a monologue that was thoughtful and almost always progressive.

If you've ever seen Springer on Hardball or other political talkies, you'd be impressed at his knowledge and clear speaking style. I'm all for him moving into lefty talk radio, and I'm looking forward to listening to him every day.

12. We're the ones who have to get better at "exploit, exploit, exploit."

Herr Gropenfuhrer got elected with only peeps from us about his illicit behavior. And he's from the dreaded, scary Hollywood!!

Chimpoleon got reelected* with only peeps from us about his warmongering, his AWOL status, his lies.

Tom Delay is getting away with racketeering. We're pretty silent about it.

So Springer paid a hooker with a check, like, thirty years ago. Who cares? That has got to be our defense. I don't care. I'm over it. So he hosted a trashy TV show that everyone knew was phony, like wrestling. Everyone watched it, and everyone loved it. Who cares? I'm over it. They don't care about their own scummy pasts, so I'm going to play their game and beat them at it.

We're smarter than they are. It's high time we started acting like it.

:-)

*whatever.

13. Don't let the stupid TV show fool you.
Before his show, Springer was very influential in local politics here. When his show first started, it was a serious social/political talk show. But people didn't tune in, so it became the trash TV it is today.
