Ask the White House attorney
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 11:49 AM by Cocoa
I don't even know where to begin with Albeto Gonzalez, there are just so many questions. Enron, the Cheney/GAO battle, impeachment, war crimes, etc.

Maybe I'll just ask if he relates at all to the Robert Duvall character in "The Godfather."

edit: I can't believe I didn't think of the obvious question, especially since we're discussing it right now here on DU. "Mr. Gonzalez, do you believe that the President had the authority to use force against Iraq even if Congress voted against the resolution last fall?"

He may even answer this one, which would be a first for me in four "Ask the White House"'s. :-)

He didn't answer my Iraq question, he was only answering questions on Miguel Estrada.

I'm beginning to think these chats are just to promote the president's policies, and not sincere attempts to communicate with the rabble.

I know it's a harsh thing to say about the President, but it just seems that way.

John, from Maryland writes:
Are you disappointed in Miguel dropping out? Did he let the Administration down?

Judge Gonzales
I am disappointed whenever any well qualified American is discouraged from serving our country. Miguel did everything requested by this White House in connection with his nomination- he did not let the Administration down.

Megan, from Johnson City, TN writes:
Why was Miguel Estrada so important to the Administration anyway? Everyone can be replaced.

Judge Gonzales
The judiciary is an important branch in our system of government and the decisions of the men and women who serve as federal judges will have a tremendous impact on the lives of every American. For this reason, the President nominates men and women who are of the highest professional quality. They are of the highest character and integrity and believe in a philosophy that represents the mainstream of American jurisprudence. Miguel would have made an excellent judge. His withdrawal is a loss for the American people.
