NYC News stations not saying "Christmas" anymore?
Began noticing yesterday that all news stations are using the term "holiday" replacing the usual term "Christmas" and wishing a lot more "Happy Hannakah" expressions. (As Seinfeld said, "Not that there's anything wrong with that.):)

But what caught my attention was when several newscasters on different stations caught themselves in mid-word, i.e. "Now we will talk about the latest Christm....I mean holiday toys." Seems like it is coming from upper ranks of station management. Wonder what the deal is?

Granted, NYC has a very diverse population of many religions who do not necessarily believe the Christmas story...so maybe it is just here and nowhere else.

2. In El Paso
one of the Morning Shows said they aren't forbidden to say the "C" word like the other stations are. The "C" word is for Christmas for all those with dirty minds. ;)

4. Ah, yes, "Christianity Under Attack"
So--you'll be boycotting Macy's this year? According to the latest campaign by the extremist pseudo-Christians, the store has been omitting "Christmas" & saying "Happy Holidays". Or, even worse, "Happy Hanukkah". (They're all JEWS, you know!) At least, according to the latest campaign of the extremist pseudo-Christians. Check out this mention at "Citizen Magazine": www.family.org/cforum/citizenmag/webonly/a0033730.cfm

While at that site, check out their other "interests." You can find the same story all over the net.

Hanukkah is actually happening right now. For real Christians, December 25th is the First Day of Christmas; this is Advent.

And most newspeople here in Texas usually say "Happy Holidays". Of course, Houston is surprisingly multicultural.

8. Macy's?...Hell...
I live two blocks away from this giant and I haven't been inside all year. I do need a pair of jeans though....:)

Every single year, Macy's complains about poor "holiday" sales so I won't be surprised if they bow to the boycott - actually I don't have a dog in the fight....

I posted it because this is actually the very first year that I have ever heard such an EFFORT to refrain from using the term (and it is always tied in with shopping, of course!)

9. Interesting development here in the Dirty South.
"Christmas" has been taboo on TV and Radio for at least five years now. It's been "Happy Holidays" in extremis. THIS year, however, the phrase "Merry Christmas" is making a comeback!

I believe that is a reflection of the "Christians" (sic{k}) thinking they actually have One Of Their Own in the White Haus.

Talk about getting coal in your stocking!

10. I have never heard local stations here refer to it as Merry Christmas...
It was always happy holidays, and occasionally Happy Hannakah, never really heard of complaints or anything because of it, and this is the Midwest for crying out loud.

Not a big deal around here, just to our state government.
