1. We even looked after the kooks that hate samesex.
They are a part of our society. There is a Indiginous people channel that we get as part of basic cable. What have you done for you First Nations lately?

6. Gotta love Ann Coulter
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 01:46 PM by HamiltonHabs32
Why do they give her TV time, she's obviously a loon.

"(canada) Should hope the United states don't roll over one night and crush them, they are lucky we allow them to exsist on the same continent"

She also mentiones that Blue Staters are bad Americans, now what if somebody who knew nothing about Ann Coulter was watching this, they might take her opinions seriously?? Wouldnt you say stuff like this is dividing your country?

16. waiting lines for medical services?
in america---no insurance...try getting medical service
insurance-hmo..see three doctors before the problem kills you
good insurance-be prepared to cut back on eating to pay the premium
eye or dental care-no coverage? forget making an appointment
eye and dental insurance? one to two month wait for appointment

8. No it isn't.
I really, really dislike the overuse of the term "socialism", especially since in this country it's used to poison the well when talking about things like single-payer health insurance.

Socialism means making the working class the ruling class via directly democratic control of the means of production. Canada doesn't have anything approaching this state of things, nor does any other country.

10. Canada is not a socialist state in reality.
It has more social programs than America, but it's not a socialist state.
America has social programs too.

11. Canada may not be socialist...
...but they do have a major political party - the New Democrats - that is a member of the Socialist International. For those unfamiliar with Canadian politics, the NDP is akin to the left wing of our Democratic party. In other words the NDP is to the left of the Canada's governing Liberal Party. The NDP also serves as Canada's labor party. The Regina Manifesto, which was issued by the NDP's predecessor organization (the CCF) in the 1930's, remains a political document that I find inspirational and visionary.

12. I wish, but no; not really.
We do have a socialist party, but recent provincial governments its formed have been nominally social democratic at best. And while we do still have what could be characterized as socialized health care, our social safety net has been in decline since the mid-'80s, and much of our public-sector economy has been dismantled and sold off. (Air Canada and Petro Canada, for instance.)

The 1970s was the high-water mark for our "mixed economy," which was as close to socialism as we got. Now, we're much more free market. And I'm not happy about that.
