9. Ah, yes, folks, yet
another shining example of "compassionate conservatism" as propounded by Our Great Leader. As one who lost a young nephew tortured by schizophrenia to suicide, I do not find such "humanity" and "compassion" to be very amusing at all. Obviously, you have no idea what someone suffering from depression and other forms of mental illness goes through, especially if they've suffered the loss of a child as well. But you're perfect and your life is perfect, right?

12. I do understand depression
this is a family trait. My daughter suffers with depression, I struggle too, so I understand. I've not had any problems with schizophrenia but this does not mean it will never show in our family.

8. I'm not sure suicide is an easy way out.
I wouldn't want to judge someones choice. Mental illness is a horrible thing. I have seen it take it's toll.

11. Having read up on the subject (and attempting it a couple of times m'self)
It is NOT easy to do, and often painful.

And if it fails, there can be serious health-related repercussions that would make the attempter wish he had succeeded.

I've been lucky.

Many haven't.

And our so-called "culture of life" society only ENCOURAGES things that lead to society.

I'd say a lot more against the * totalitarian-wannabe regime, but it can wait until tomorrow.

4. this is truly a sad thing
In some way I can understand how he felt, the economy under * has destoryed us and with the death of his son and the so called re-election of "a" hole it just sent him over the edge, so to speak.

10. well, the election may have just been the last straw.
1. his son committed suicide
2. debt
3. obviously an ongoing depressive state, possible heriditary

As the surviving daughter of a suicide (father) I can tell you that the fallout for the survivors is beyond description. If you have not experienced it yourself, you have no idea.

You really have two distinct things going on: the reaction to the very sudden and unnecessary death of a loved one and the suidide itself.

So to the lowposter up there and the wah! wah! comment I say "Screw off,
asshole, you know not of what you sneer at".

apologizing for the bad grammar,

my sympathies to the remaining survivors of this unfortunate father and son
