I need help with the lingo here! |
|
I've been reading for a while, and now I'm posting to the site. But there are certain words and initials that I haven't been able to decipher, though I've searched the site looking for definitions (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place). In any case, here are the ones that still confuse me:
Dupe
Freeper (kind of understand, but need a little more enlightenment)
Repug/Rethug (Actually, I know to whom these refer, but where do the choices of such originate?)
EOM
N/T
There might be others, but these are theones that come to mind right away. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dupe = duplicate, as in duplicate post
Freeper = someone who frequents Freerepublic.com or an obnoxious rethuglican
EOM = end of message
n/t = no text, as in "there is no text following my subject line"
Rethuglicans are called that because they are thugs.
NGU = Never Give Up
GD = General Discussion forum

Freeper = a troll from Free Republic who comes to DU to disrupt Repug/Rethug = Republicans, especially the repugnant, thuggish types. EOM = End of message (no text in the body of the message) N/T = No Text (ditto end of message)

Dupe = duplicate posting
Freeper == denizen of the site FreeRepublic
EOM == End of Message
N/T == No Text follows
I'll leave it to others to explains the origins of Repug/Rethug, as I'm not clear on them myself.

8. Here's some more.... for you. Level II |

You have the neo-conservatives and their PNACthen you have the neo-Liberals and their PPI who are very closely allied with the DLC (Democratic Leadership Council). They're both the same. http://rightweb.irc-online.org/org/ppi.phpIf you need to read up, we've got a ton of research on this but a good place to start (for lurkers) is http://www.pnac.info/blog/archives/cat_the_pnac_opposition.html The Lay of the Land for you & background info here: http://www.garlicandgrass.org/issue5/intro.cfm
