Why the "Secret Signing" re: licenses for undocumented?

This morning on the way in to work I heard from Bill Handel (KFI 640) that Davis is signing AB 60 tonight at a Lincoln Heights DMV (Lincoln Heights is a predominantly Latino area in East L.A.). Handel was griping that the gringo press was not informed of this signing, and that when his producer called the governor's office to fact check, they were told that there was "no information" available on the matter. Apparently, he found out about it from the Latino press which has been flooding the airwaves with the news.

What gives?

1. Is Bill Handel a right winger who will lie about this and exploit it?

2. I'd say he skews right...

He's definitely pro-recall. But he's not a nut-case. He gave some pretty hefty props to Dean. I don't think he lies, but that's always in the eye of the beholder.

Illegals will get licenses. They will use them to register to vote.
They will vote in numbers awesome enough to pass a law saying all gringos should give up their property and move.

I'm not concerning myself with the angst and anger here, just wondering why the guv's office is allegedly playing a game.

Maybe they just hate KFI. I don't know. But that's what Handel said this a.m. and I don't think he lies.
