Salvation Army still whining about Target not letting them ring their

bells in front of their stores. Should we email Target and tell them we support them? Then should we email The Salvation Army and tell them why they are losing $9 Million....because of their anti-gay agenda?

Olbermann just had this story on and Target said they donate $400 Million a year to charity and The Salvation Army IS ONE OF THOSE CHARITIES they donate to! The Salvation Army is trying to blame Target for all of their losses this year and the RR is telling their congregants to not shop there. I think they need some emails. :grr:

Here's their Corporate Headquarters email:

Here's the Salvation Army email:

1. Let them eat their own here
Target's a red companyl; I'm boycotting them already. Salvation Army is an anti-gay charity.

I support standing on the sidelines, watching them beat each other up over this. If Salvation Army blames Target, Target is less likely to donate as much to them. Meanwhile Target could be losing sales over this. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Although telling Target we support them could prolong this a while, so maybe a supportive email is in order.

14. if you had to choose between
walmart and target, please go with target. They may be the lesser of two evils but you will be helping create competition for walmart and also they are very good to their employees. One of my friends is a manager at target. he is gay and they are very supportive of diversity.

16. I'll shop at Target any day....
My daughter works there and started out at $2.00 per hour more than the new hire idiot over at Walmart. They could get by with paying less but they don't. So they give more to Repukes, they still give to Dems. By not letting SA bell ringers at least their not kowtowing to Repukes and the flaming religious right.

8. The Salvation Army's religious doctrine...
... rejects homosexuality, and in that it isn't different from other religions or religious-based organizations. However, it does not discriminate in providing charitable services to homosexuals. 84% of their expenses goes to program services, they offered services to 33 million people last year, and is an extremely important source of support for the homeless. With this pool of "clients", it's likely that a lot of homosexuals are benefited. I don't understand the logic of labeling them anti-gay and enjoying the prospect of them losing donations.

10. If their religious doctrine rejects homosexuality, I reject them.
I'll give to other charities like the Leukemia Foundation who saved my brother-in-laws life. Who, BTW, had 6 brothers to test for a bone marrow match. One of the brothers was a match and he saved his brother's life, my brother-in-law. Guess what that brother died from 2 years ago? Aids. He was gay.

The Salvation Army can kiss my behind.

The Salvation Army recently requested a regulation exempting religious charities from being forced to hire homosexuals. The organization requested the exemption because of the increasing number of local governments that have passed laws requiring religious groups to adhere to laws barring discrimination against homosexuals in hiring, job promotion and benefits.

Shame on them. I just love the hypocrisy of Christians.

11. I told them that I followed the teachings of Jesus, not Leviticus
and that it was unfortunate that they didn't do the same.

15. That's what the Klan's religious doctrine says about black people.
I won't be donating to them, either.

5. He also said other companies have said "no" to the Salvation Army
including Home Freakin' Depot, a big Republican supporter. Why isn't that finger-pointing preacher and the sanctimonious shopper whining about Home Depot?

Home depot, dang. We need to spread that around. Maybe Keith Olbermann wants to mention that. Freepers should boycott those SA bashers for sure!

13. Home Depot has said no to the SA in front of the building for decades
And every other charitable group, for that matter. It's part of our no-solicitation policy.

According to company lore, we used to let the Scouts, Camp Fire and other charitable groups solicit in front of the stores...until the KKK showed up and said that since HD lets the Scouts solicit they also have to let the Klan solicit.

The big differences here: this is Target's first year of growing themselves a pair, and the fundies weren't organized in 1981 the way they are now.

are. If they did, that organization would be in deep shit.

Why is that being sobbed about in the news?
