...working conditions steadily deteroriate. Employees who complain are shitcanned. Soon thereafter they are out of money, out of a place to live, and out of food.

The attitude of management is no matter how hard you work, no matter how skilled you may be, you can be replaced tomorrow, so don't complain about you pay, your hours, your work conditions, or any other abuse or you're history. Welcome to the American sweatshop.

I know many people living on the edge. Quite a few end up in jail because they can't raise $100 for a bond on trespass, because they are homeless, or retail theft, because they are destitute, or the "illegal" drugs they take, to forget their pathetic lives.

It's the jungle, back with a vengeance. Too old to work? No medical care? Not enough to live on? Tough shit! That's the new policy.
