So....Did Anyone Hear Atrios' Comments About Bev on AAR?
Did he imply she isn't trustworthy?

Is this a "seventhson situation?"

Hmmmm.....

SAY IT AIN'T SO, BEV!

Andy?

Symbolman got mentioned but you didn't.

Sam tacked the segment onto the last 5 minutes of the show.

No questions.

What the heck is going on?

Do Jeb, Blackwell, Rove and Diebold win this round?

AAARGH!

There, I just answered your question.

2. I'm all about the BBV thing....but...
I don't believe that Bev is our best spokesperson.

4. Atrios mentioned...
...that Bev has a tendency to turn on people who spend their time and money helping her.

I realize she is persona-non-grata around here now due to a tantrum she performed, but it worries me that at this critical time that the most visible point person is not getting support from the community.

What am I missing?

And Atrios mentioned something about an outburst by Bev on Randy Rhodes but didn't go into detail.

Am I treading on thin ice even bringing this subject up?

Mods?

6. I missed all of that drama...
but I am a supporter of Bev...I just think she goes too far sometimes. She is one of our best and most devoted BBV people I just wish she would chill a bit.

7. Nah you're not treading on thin ice..but you gotta admit
the further we keep this away from personalities and focus on issues the better we will be. That's why everyone's statements should be verified before publically running with anything.

:hi:

13. Yes you are treading on thin ice.
This has been a long time comming and slowly people are waking up. Very slowly. Atrios is beyond reproach and an ecomomics proffesor. Bev is what? Still trying to figure that out. A bullshit artist? Maybe. An expert? Not a chance in hell.

She dug her own grave by pissing on people that tried to help her period.

I'm still amazed how long it took for people to figure it out.

8. Atrios comments on Bev
I didn't hear the Atrios comments on Bev, but I think she is getting some good work done. She may also may also lack social graces, common sense, and organization, but it appears to me that she has done a lot of good things under a great deal of stress.
It may be time to understand that we all have limitations.
It's especially valuable when you can recognise your own limtiations and reach out to others and include theri expertise where yours may be lacking.

10. Harris clearly doesn't recognize her limitations,
because if she did, she'd have somebody else to handle the PR angle of the BBV organization. I think her ego is so large that she'll never let that happen, and BlackBoxVoting.org will continue to look like an unprofessional and unorganized fringe activist site.

15. I listened to that one on RR
and at the end of it one thought crossed my mind, and one that I wish I did not even entertain.

She may be the most unprofesional person around (and control freak), or a tool... those were my conclussions

She has done a lot to bring the issue to the forefront, but many years ago I was told by a very wise person... nobody is essencial or even necessary... for a cause sometimes benefits from changes.

18. Bev Put Energy Into the Issue Very Early
I remember being very relieved that someone was delving into it.

Personalities aside, I think we all owe Bev Harris our gratitude for her role as the de facto spearhead in raising awareness of the issue and motivating the many great minds here who helped.

I wish her the best.

Maybe Bev just needs a Dale Carnegie refresher course!

Yeah-- that's the ticket!

21. Atrios also mentioned the infamous "cigar" thing
basically, that Bev used to market "Monica cigars" or some sort of similar anti-Clinton paraphernalia back in the late 90s. As a matter of fact Atrios mentioned this is how Bev first came to fame.

This raised a HUGE red flag to me. A former Clinton-hater suddenly appears as an activist taking money and resources from the left on a very specific and crucial issue. Have we been had? How do I get my money back?

5. Bev got what she deserved.
Atrios was a gentleman. He did say Bev has had problems for years .He did mention Andy but not by name. He did imply Bev was not trustworthy.

12. I didn't hear the Atrios thing but I did hear the Randi thing- it
was on yesterday's show- don't have a link, sorry. Randi reamed her on air for being unreachable by phone to Air America, Keith Olbermann, Bartcop, and even her own people at Black Box- and she fired Andy. Randi's opinion was that if so many of Randi's listeners had donated money to Bev's cause Bev needed to keep them up to speed- and I agree. She sounded very flaky to me.
