What will it take to get YOU to the streets?
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 11:10 PM by nadinbrzezinski
Do the democrats need a backbone?

They need one, but tell me exactly what do you want them to do? Ok I will vent right now but time I do, as all I see here, democratic underground and the Mike Malloy site is a lot of complaining. (with some exceptions and you know who you are)

I keep hearing but the democratic party this and the democratic party that, what about Kerry, where are the leaders?

Ok I have gone to three demonstrations so far, where at the top of it only 50 people showed up. Ok, people bitch and moan but if I were a Democratic Leader why should I put my life on the line (yes their life you read this right... .not career, but life) If all I see is people complaining on the net or writing them letters? EVERY FUCKING TIME we have gotten any social change it has taken more than fifty people taking to the streets.

So where the hell are you?

Look we are those leaders. It is also a fact that the politicos RARELY lead, but they are good followers.

You also want change overnight, ok, fine ARE YOU RUNNING for office in the Democratic Party? YES YOU? You complaint, you are that spine they need, RUN become an officer... (Yes I know some people have by the way, you know who you are), But the fact is, if I were a leader in the party and all I saw was bitching and complaining at the grassroots (though the giving of money was good and impressive, but NOT ENOUGH) I would not move a fucking finger either.

They need us as much as we need them. In fact they need US to show some initiative and if we truly believe there was massive fraud in OH... god dam it where are the THOUSANDS if not MILLIONS of people in the streets? Yes this is the frustration many of us in the front lines feel ok. Oh and incidentally we have been told they need us in the streets, in subtle ways, by many a representative. Barney Franks told us, look folks we have no recourse, the Courts are rigged, we have petitioned and we have gone the legal route, but there is nothing more we can do... where pray tell me have I heard that language before? Oh yes, the Declaration of Independence... do you really need Franks to tell you... my fellow Americans the only recourse we have left right now is Revolution? Do you need it spelled out that clearly? (Oh and boys at NSA revolutions can be peaceful, just ask your RadCon bosses)

We have had others tell us this as well... Nethercutt recently emailed another DU'er using very similar language...

Even Edwards and Kerry have been cryptic but have made references to the Declaration., What do you think they are telling YOU..... yes YOU? FOLKS we need you in the streets... that is what they are telling you... this is EXACTLY what they are telling you.... and quite honestly people are so daft that if I were one of them, I would not move a fucking finger either.

Now as to the party... yes they need to be infiltrated.. so are YOU wiling to do it? Are YOU willing to run for school board? How about County Board of Supervisors? Heck if you can spare a million or two, get a media outlet, because that is he other reason YOU DO NOT HEAR what the democrats ARE DOING? DO you hear a tree in the forest when it falls if you are not there? Oh and this is exactly how the Radical Right did this... got it? GOOD!

11th Commandment, Though shall not criticize a fellow republican... it works, extremely well... it is called MESSAGE DISCIPLINE and the RadCons have understood this for a generation.

1. You are absolutely right.
I think americans are too "busy" for democracy.

I feel insane about this whole election, but I haven't protested. The only excuse I have, is that they were too far away. That's just not good enough.

4. I'm a granny in Calif. I've been yelling about going into the streets
for ALL the issues, doing so for days now. I even write to my local radio host to ask the same question. WHERE ARE THE RALLIES? Where are the hordes of outraged Americans?

There are sooooo many things that need attention and our "leaders" aren't doing anything.... I'm ready to march. I'm ready to shout. I'm ready to write, dance, sing, fight, whatever..Just let's go out and get organized for massive marches all over the country.

I've written to some orgs but got NO ANSWER back. Hell, I'm even willing to pitch in buck$$

In the meantime, I do my little bit: Renewed bumper stickers, buttons, banners, clothing ANYTHING that is "in your face" while I'm IN the Public. But unless we "mass up", it's of little consequence.

6. Some idiot president trying to privatize social security
I'm serious. I'm NOT going to allow the priviledged class to bleed any more money out of us working stiffs! No broker will profit from my retirement! I worked for it!

7. Well maybe
I would run if I was old enough to run for anything. Seeing as how I'm only 19, I can't really run for anything can I? But I have tried to incite people to take to the streets numerous times.

8. You are absolutely correct we have to march
if we don't show them some strength it's all over. These next rallys have to be 100 times bigger than before.500,000 people show up in D.C. and what do we get ? they mention over 100,000 whiners on page 10 or nothing on the t.v. non news.I am not dreaming, millions protested this war,i guess we need hundreds of millions and we have those numbers now that won't go away.
The neocons don't understand that we don't get paid for this,we do it for the future and if we don't do it now in massive numbers there will be no future .

9. Wouldn't go over well here in Jesusland
I would be literally the only one to show. Five people if I'm lucky. But some of the local freepers do know of my boycotting activities.

But if I had a plane ticket to go to DC for another "Bonus Army" march, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Problem is transportation and lodging costs, and the lack of an organized march:(

10. Here's something everybody can do at home.
One thing we can all do even those of us who are busy, poor or living in red states: BOYCOTT!

Boycott advertisers that support Rush, Fox, Clear Channel, Sinclair. Get 'em where it always hurts a Republican most -- the wallet. All we have to do is do it together, and keep on doing it. So what if it means we sacrifice a little? Personally, I'd love to see what a little coordinated, long-term boycott would do. I think it would remind all of us how much power we really do have when we use it.

11. I like the idea of doing it on Jan. 6, drop-dead date for the election
I think that would be better than inauguration day. We will not get close enough to ANYTHING that day, not even close enough to turn our backs on Bush.

What someone else said is true, though, there is hardly any coverage with this new Amerika we find ourselves a part of. Did anybody realize that in Feb. of 2003 30 MILLION people across the world marched against our upcoming invasion of Iraq? I didn't know this until this past summer! No coverage and 30 million showed up? How many will WE need?

Still, it's important enough to do. At least we should make our presence known near Congress somehow.

12. Protests for the few who may have missed this
Check out the local groups again. I just found one that is a reasonable distance from my home.

http://www.unitedforpeace.org/

January 20, 2005:
Our Resistance Continues!
On Thursday, January 20, 2005, George W. Bush will be inaugurated as president of the United States. For the millions of us who stand for the values of peace and justice, it is a moment to renew our commitment to resist the Bush Administration and its deadly policies of war and greed – and to show Bush, and the world, that our movement is energized, mobilized, and determined to keep fighting back.

United for Peace and Justice urges everyone who can to converge in Washington, DC on January 20. We encourage you to participate in the creative, powerful protest activities being organized by two groups: the DC Anti-War Network (DAWN) and Turn Your Back on Bush. Visit the DC-based Counter-inaugural.org website for housing and ride boards, resources, meeting information, and more.

We also urge groups around the country to organize local protest and/or educational events on January 20, to provide opportunities for all those who can’t make it to Washington to take a public and visible stand for peace and justice and to invigorate our movement of resistance in every corner of the United States. Be sure to list your activities on the UFPJ website calendar. | More »

13. Walkouts:
Walkout Inauguration Day and the Anniversary of the invasion of Iraq

========

Global WALKOUT for Peace, Freedom & Justice for All
WALKOUT Thursday January 20 and Friday, March 18, 2005
http://www.consensus.net/walkout.html
1-800-884-1136

Walkout Inauguration Day and the Anniversary of the invasion of Iraqi
STOP THE WARS AND BRING THE TROOPS HOME

Now is the time for you the people to come together, and "stand up for
your rights."
Today our constitutional rights, liberties, and freedoms are in
jeopardy, along with the fate of
mother earth and her children. Walkout the Friday before the
inauguration and the Friday of the
anniversary of the invasion of Iraq and show that the people have power
and who ever is elected
will have to listen to our voice.

Over 100,000 civilians have been killed and over 1,000 young Americans
have died since the
illegal war on Iraq started on March 20, 2003. Everyday we learn of
gruesome acts of torture and
crimes against humanity.

The true outcome of the vote in the U.S. election is in question and the
world is in crisis. Nuclear
war, global warming, disease and ecological collapse threaten the
world. We face cuts in access to healthcare, education and income.
Consider walking out of your job or class on January 20 and March 18,
2005. Let the war profiteers know how we feel. Make the government and

corporations pay a cost for their crimes.

Activists all over the world are planning two weekends of actions to
stop the illegal war and Bush's agenda. One proposal is a walkout on
Friday January 20th and March 18th where workers and students take the
day off. The walkout can cause war profiteering corporations billions
of dollars and shut down schools sending Bush a powerful message. Some
people may occupy congressional offices and military facilities. There
will be teach-ins, concerts, marches, rallys, blockades, banner
hangings and all kinds of actions designed to show that the world wants
an end to the war crimes in Iraq and that we reject the Bush agenda.
Feel free to start planning the walkout and other actions in your
community. The protests before the war were the largest actions for
peace in world history. This could be an even larger.

Join the people of the world on January 20th and March 18th...and make
the dream for peace
possible.

Come together students, artists, musicians, students, teachers, actors,
cooks. waitresses.
longshoremen, truckers, lawyers, contractors, veterans, bus drivers,
homemakers, cashiers, maids, janitors, grocery, office, sanitation, farm,
factory and train workers walk the road to freedom and peace.

Consider organizing a community event or celebration. Email this to
your lists. Copy this flyer and pass them out.
