Reuters
Friday, September 5, 2003; 5:36 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - President Bush will address the nation Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. ET about the war on terrorism with a focus on Iraq, the White House announced.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters Friday Bush's speech came as the United States was in a "critical moment in the war on terrorism."

6. Seconded
especially because this will probably displace British PM's Questions on C-SPAN (Sunday @ 9 PM), which I was really looking forward to.

is the payback he demanded. A lead-in audience for some insipid address to the nation.

11. I'll bet it has to do with Iraq.
Cost of war and occupation, length of stay, etc. None of which wouldn't even be talked about if the people weren't getting antsy about it.

Is the RNC paying for this campaign pitch? Or will it be the citizenry, as usual?

20. I wonder if it will be pre-recorded?
I would guess by announcing it on Friday afternoon, they are hoping not too many people are paying attention.

I wouldn't get too excited about W really saying anything important. It's just that it takes them that long just to sober him up and get him to memorize his lines.

26. What are you
smoking? And can I have some? Geez, that would be sweet. I'd go out and buy a $100 bottle of French champaign and CELEBRATE!!!!!

Sorry to say, I doubt Mr. Arrogance will do that. He's been so good at fooling so many of the people so much of the time, I suspect he's planning on doing it again.

24. Wesley Clark Quote...
from Joe Conason at Salon on August 29, 2003...

Wesley Clark: "What we've got is a government that's taken us to war under false pretenses. It's failed to plan adequately for the aftermath of that conflict. It's continuing to call for more fighting in the Middle East and that in turn is detracting from the war on terrorism. THAT'S NOT PART OF THE WAR ON TERRORISM. We made it a fight over there and it's not helping make us any safer."

(Damn, I hate the fact that former Texas 'Governor Death' is our selected president, I just get so worked up.)

29. Let me guess: No unscripted questions, no rebuttle.
A smokescreen about finding papers that definitively strongly credibly whateverly show WMD beyond all doubt.

A few key words, e.g. family values (naw fv is too old, let's see...) strengthen relationships between men and women in Amurika, bring forth.... something, doesn't matter what he says anyway.

Oh yes, and he'll need more money to which our press will react in silent awe at the simple majesty of having been informed by his simple honesty. Just before the money is transferred to Carlye, Haliburton, and Bechtel.

Either the DNA found Saddam's body or a heroic service person will be applauded. Maybe Jessica Lynch.

The press will then fawn over his comments and delivery even if he comes out with poop on his nose and slurs all but two words.

And, I will watch it, if I can, just in case he comes clean. Barring that, the smile on my face will be the irony of listening to his speech while I read another few pages of Al Franken's Lies, and Lying Liars that Tell Them, a Fair and Balanced Look at the Right.

With that I will have some perspective, some context, and a couple of good laughs. What more could I expect in life with Bush.
