Let's make the move to the right
On one issue. Federalism. No federal government except for national defense. I think its a keeper.

1. Rawls would disagree
A move allowing states the right to discriminate doesn't even attempt to meet the minimum requirements for justice as fairness.

2. where's my curtain
saw a pickup with the bumper sticker "there's no government like no government."

I love Southern rural progressives. (He had an Al Weed sticker too - dem opposition to the evil incumbent Virgil Goode. You'd be surprised how many there are in Central VA)

7. Good point. Also, how do you maintain basic stuff...
like food safety, product liability, etc. across state lines.
And that doesn't even begin to address social equality issues.

4. Great plan! Energy crisis disappears as the Interstate Highway System
falls into an unusable state and all commercial jets crash after one day of: "Tower? err, Tower? OK, Tower, this isn't funny..."

Food stuffs can't get to markets. Nobody inspects meat. The National Forests get carted off without any method by lumber companies. The dams fail and crumble, which might help with all the fires springing up due to no firefighting, but could be the shits for populated areas.

Local School boards enact such a hodge-podge of curriculum changes that in twenty years, people will be unable to speak to anyone beyond their immediate dialect area. But that'll be OK cuz there won't be any usable telephone service.

Yep, that is the world the neocons want. So long as they have guards for their gated communities and food flown in by private jets from South America, they'll do just fine not paying for the infrastructure of this great nation. Ah, see, that outsourcing thing was a good idea cuz nothing in the US works anymore.

Too bad about all the people dead from starvation across the country.

9. yeah, simple ideas for simpletons
Do you want hucksters to be able to sell you snake oil? That's what you'll get without the FDA. Do you want to die for want of medication that might be discovered at a university? That's what you'll get without the NIH. Do you want states to start setting their own tariffs? That's what you'll get without the ICC.

Most of the government the loonetarian right loves to hate is there for a purpose. I'd think one might acquaint himself with the history of this country and why those agencies were brought into being before deciding to throw them all out and throw the people of this country to the corporate wolves.

Government at its best serves in an adversarial position for the people against the powerful, and that's why all these agencies were created. That it's lost its way to the revolving door between industry and oversight is lamentable, but it's something that can be fixed.

Eliminating our only hope for something to stand with us against the powerful is a child's idea, based on a child's reasoning and knowledge. Please get educated.

14. Give me all of your Federal Reserve Notes ...
... and I'll give you my Bank of Michigan currency.

In the absence of a "</sarcasm>" tag all I can see is the "<I'm an idiot>" tag.
