MSNBC to give Tucker Carlson his own show
to follow Olbermann.

from www.tvnewser.com:

Only on TVNewser: MSNBC is close to signing a deal with CNN's Tucker Carlson, paving the way for the conservative Crossfire co-host to fill the 9:00pm primetime position soon to be vacated by Deborah Norville.

MSNBC staffers have been buzzing about the possibility in recent days, three sources told TVNewser. One insider speculated that Carlson's program would attract new viewers to the network, but more importantly, "it shows that MSNBC is a priority and folks are trying their darndest to make it work." Carlson feels that CNN hasn't treated him well, a source said. MSNBC executives, on the other hand, are thrilled by the guy in the bow tie.

I can see this building an audience for Scarborough at 10pm but there's no way that Olbermann's audience will stick around for Tucker Carlson.

6. I can see this
building an audience for Joe "I killed my intern" Scarborough but it's not going to do a damn thing for Keith Olbermann's audience. And let's count out the current line-up for MS-GOP, shall we? Chris Matthews--GOP ass-kissing sycophant; Scarborough-GOP toadie; and now Tucker Carlson! 3 vs. 1 and you can see that KO really operates more as a centrist instead of as a liberal (you know-what news people are supposed to be). So basically, MSNBC has NO liberals on the network. Liberal media my ass!

5. This is why MSNBC will remain in the basement
With Countdown, they at least started to establish themselves as an alternatuve to Faux News.

But then they undermine that by following him with not one but two conservative talk shows.

If the nitwits had at least tried to provde balance in their schedule, they might have a chance to build an audience. But this just makes them a Fox Wannabe.

13. Yep, they're idiots.
Nobody understands yet that there IS a market for real journalism and left-leaning talk. (Except Air America). I thought that MSNBC might be heading that way-- got a foot in the door with KO-- but apparantly not.

Someone's missing a business opportunity, that's all I can say.

44. I told them just that...
Dear MSNBC,
I just read on TV Newser that your organization is in the process of inking a deal with CNN's Tucker Carlson.
Why?
I had hoped that with Keith Olbermann's 128 percent ratings increase from October to November, the folks over at MSNBC would have realized that there is a market out there for unbiased (if pithy) news reporting.
There are so very many shows on the air with a right-wing slant, including your own, "Scarborough Country," that the market is saturated; however, there are those of us who really want a bit less opinion and a bit more news. Olbermann's "Countdown" is nearly the only show on the major cable news networks that fits that bill.
Fox News, for example, is 99.9 percent conservative (the .01 percent being what little Alan Colmes gets to wedge in between Sean Hannity's diatribes) and CNN has turned into nothing but a Republican-agenda-oriented cable news station in an attempt, presumably, to keep up with Fox's ratings.
Even though I tend to be a moderate who leans left, I would rather see true "fair and balanced" reporting and issue-oriented punditry than to see a bunch of shows that cater to either the right or left. Your "After Hours" during the election season was a nice alternative to the yelling "Democrat vs. Republican" shows that dominate television today.
I tend to agree with Jon Stewart in regards to Tucker Carlson and his ilk when he called down the "Crossfire" host for participating in the screamfests: "I felt that wasn't fair, and I should come here and tell you that it's not so much that it's bad, as it's hurting America," Stewart told Carlson and Begala. "So I wanted to come here today and say . . . stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America. You're helping the politicians and the corporations."
Amen.
How 'bout keeping it real over there at MSNBC and watch your ratings go up. If Carlson becomes part of the line up, I will be tuning out after Olbermann goes off.

MSNBC newsgroup try to tell me that the liberals in the media outnumber the conservatives! And then someone else on the group claimed that more conservatives watched cable than liberals!!! These people have their heads so far up their ass it's unbelievable.

And don't even get me started on the cable news programmers---the jerks at CNN seemed to believe that the way to go was to become Faux Lite and they've purged their programming of any liberal presence at all and now MSNBC is going to do the same.

Oh, and the latest, in case you haven't heard is that CNN Headline News is being re-tooled in January so that instead of their current format, will have content programming from 8-11, a legal affairs show, a financial show, etc. No more getting headlines every 30 minutes.

With the exception Keith Olberman there isn't one other show across all of these corrupt corporate news channels that have anyone expressing a more liberal point of view. If Kaplan does in fact hire Fucker Carlson we should blast this guy with endless e-mail and phone calls to voice disgust!

They will have, Lester Holt, Tweety, Carlson, Scarborough, that's about %90 of their line up. :wtf:

Carlson: MSNBC's 1st Truly Balanced Primetime

Upon reading TVNewser's exclusive report that MSNBC is courting CNN's Tucker Carlson to replace Deborah Norville, both extremes of the political spectrum sounded angry. Free Republic posters called him the "liberal's idea of what a conservative should be," while Democratic Underground posters shuddered at the thought of "two right-wingers on MSNBC's prime time lineup."

But that's the point. Carlson would be the final cog in a truly balanced primetime -- and for the first time, MSNBC's lineup would seamlessly flow from one show to the next.

...

tvnewser, rhymes with--- (insert pejorative here)

No, we puked, newser. We puked. No shuddering allowed.

TVNewser and say that Carlson, Scarborough, and all of MSNBC's (and CNN's) line ups are for liberal viewers. It's certainly a sad state of affairs for liberals on TV when another right-winger sends an email saying that Chris Matthews is one of the most liberal commentators on TV right now.
