Father United with Baby Cut from Slain Mother
Father United with Baby Cut from Slain Mother

Dec 18, 2:19 PM (ET)

By Susan Kelly

CHICAGO (Reuters) - The father of a baby girl snatched from the womb of her strangled mother greeted the infant as a miracle as the two were united after a grisly murder that gripped the United States, a Kansas hospital said on Saturday.

The girl, Victoria Jo Stinnett, was healthy and "a miracle," the Stormont-Vail hospital in Topeka, Kansas, quoted the girl's father, Zebulon Stinnett, as saying after the two were united late on Friday.

The girl's mother, Bobbie Jo Stinnett, 23, had been found strangled in her Missouri home on Thursday with her abdomen sliced open, the baby gone and the umbilical cord cut.

The woman was eight-months pregnant when discovered in a pool of blood by her mother, Becky Harper. Investigators said Harper "noted it appeared as though her daughter's stomach had exploded.

1. unexpectedly gave birth?
That's the man's story, that his wife told him she has "unexpectedly given birth" after not having been pregnant? Surely police aren't going to believe that one.

3. I am glad the baby survived the ordeal, but can you even imagine
how that poor family will tell the little girl about her birth? Every child loves to hear ...over and over.. about "the day they were born"..

and every single teacher she ever has, must be made aware because there are always innocuous llittle class assignments in elementary school that involve stuff like that:(

Aren't we all glad that Reagan closed the insane asylums:(

If the woman who did this (by herself??) had recently had a miscarriage and was mentally unbalanced, SHE needed to be in a hospital..:(

Everyone was failed all 'round..

I know this is a creepy way to approacch this, but PLEASE be careful when you step over the line between cyber and the "real" world:(

Public places with lots of people until you get the vibes of your cyber-friends..

4. I certainly don't envy him one task he faces
Telling that poor girl about how her mother died.

DAMN

If we are going to have a death penalty in this nation, then Lisa Montgomery surely deserves it.

5. Lisa Montgomery is out of her freaking mind.
But she cold-bloodedly planned this murder for MONTHS. She struck up a conversation with her victim, both talking about their pregnancies, except that Lisa wasn't. Then, when the baby was near term, Lisa made an appointment to meet Bobbie Jo and talk puppies.

I have no idea how this shapes up legally, but I doubt she'll find much sympathy. One thing, the neighbors have been rallying around her innocent kids.

and the insanity defense cannot work in this case. There is more than enough to demonstrate premeditation and the legal definition of insanity allows no room for premeditation.

IMO, anybody who murders another human being is insane, which is why a defense attorney would never want me on a murder case because I simply cannot buy into an insanity plea.
