Flying the Flag...
Remember it was all the rage to fly the flag after 9/11. All those repukes with the * bumper stickers with flag plastered all over their cars, blah blah blah...

And here we are over 3 years later and I would be pressed to find a single car now that has a flag and * bumper sticker, yet in my neighborhood here in Austin, (one of the last democratic places in Texas), there are more flags on cars that still sport Kerry stickers. Funny how that is, ins't it?

I don't know what my point is, other than patriotism seems to be held more by those that pay attention.

BTW: I still have my little flag on my dash board.

3. I had my Kerry yard sign right under my flag
The sign is gone but by george that flag still waves. It means something to me. I will not be disenfranchised or called a commie. I am an American. My forefathers died to give me the freedoms that dumb ass is trying to take away. It's my country too and my flag will wave until China makes me take it down

4. That's why I took mine down.
I didn't want to fly it upside down. Who knows what could happen to me in view of the Patriot Act mentality.

5. Times are scary, but I figure there are things worth dying for.
Invading Iraq isn't one of them. Supporting my country and being a true patriot are. I deal with this by doing little things like this.

7. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER
fly the god damned republican flag. It is the symbol of oppression, war, thievery, and death and I want nothing to do with it!

EVER!

10. What's a republican flag look like?
My dad was a Veteran, a Democrat, an active union organizer, and someone who proudly flew the flag representing the United States of America on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Veteran's Day. I have the stars and stripes that draped his coffin. It is in a display case and it reminds me of a man who worked daily to get responsible elected officials in office, decent wages and conditions of employment for the workers he represented. The flag for me is a symbol of what is good about this country and the promise for the future -- and four years go fast.

14. Hi CorbinW
My dad also was a veteran, a Marine from WWII through Vietnam. A very good, honest, hardworking, intelligent man who believed all people are of equal worth and had not a prejudiced bone in his body. And I also am honored to have the flag which covered his coffin in a display case in my home. I refuse to "give" the republicans the stars and stripes - that flag stands for too much. Yes - they have co-opted it and used it in an ugly fashion - trying to make Americans who question the governments direction and policies feel as though they are traitors and unpatriotic.

I will fly the flag still, though I fly it upside down these days - the international "distress" signal.
