If you want to support people who support Democrats, do this: |
|
Go to opensecrets.org, do a search by zipcode, and find LOCAL businesses that support Democrats.
Don't just give to big businesses whose PACs buy off Democrats more than Republicans. Find your small businesspeople who are donating as individuals (not as corporate PACs buying favors) and donate to Democrats so that Democrats can build up wealth in the middle class so that they can have customers. Support those people.

It only gives like 10 results, and only for donations above $200.
Two of them in my community were richass doctors who gave $2000 to junior. Everybody else around here is pretty much poor.

2. Go back farther than just the last election. |
|
If your zip code is mostly residential, pick a zip that has more small businesses, or that is closer to the business district.

3. Doctors giving to Smirk? |
|
Nah, no way! Gee, who'da thunk it?  :puke: :puke: :grr: :grr: :nuke: :nuke:
That fucking figures. All doctors care about nowadays is money, and to hell with people, especially if they don't have money or insurance.

5. The thing that's crazy about that is that most doctors live off earned... |
|
...income.
Anyone who makes a living from working is paying twice the tax burden as people who live off dividends and capital gains.
They're paying more so people who are wealthier can pay much less.
Although I understand in theory why doctors would vote for Bush, I think they're just another example of people voting against their best interests.
Republicans care much more about the insurance company executives who are raping doctors of their income and paying a fraction of the income tax doctors pay by living off dividends and capital gains from their company stock.

4. Thanks for the reminder |

Saw several people that won't get any business from me. I also was surprised by a few people who supposedly live near me. I wonder if they use thier office adresses when they donate?

6. Kick. I read a story about how retailers will probably do fine this... |
|
...year because of consolidation--because the downturn just hurts people without money, and people with money are able to consolidate their positions even in down markets.
So, if you're adjusting your spending by shifting it to big businesses who donate to Dems, you're not doing that much. Target is going to be fine with or without your money. Walmart is barely going to notice that you didn't shop at their store.
The people who will be hurt in this economy, and the people for whom your spending could make a big difference are the small business people in your community. So check this site. See where people who support Democrats work. Spend a little money at their stores.
Spread the power down and out and not narrowly and up at the top.
