Rummy is Slowly Falling on the Sword of His Own Making...
...and Bush is happy to allow him to do it.

I bleed ice water for Rummy's troubles these days. The arrogant "whiz (if you know what I mean) kid" is slowly dying politically by the same sword of political might that he created.

He refused to consider that his brand of military transformation brought with it any inherent danger (he should have read up on Robert McNamara). He knew he was right, and Bush knew he was the right man for the job. Rummy said, "Give me the power & I'll take full responsibility." How could Bush turn that deal down.

Rummy will twist in the wind until the stink gets so bad that Bush has to find an unwitting scapegoat to hang his mistakes in judgment on.

Remember what Bush said when asked if he'd made any mistakes. He said (paraphrasing), "I made some mistakes with my appointments."

(More heads to roll...) Wait 'till we need a draft to keep from losing a world war we alone started.

1. Lookit. How can GWBush possibly make mistakes?!!
Lookit. How can GWBush possibly make mistakes?!! After all, GWBush talks to God and God talks to GWBush. Thus, GWBush is infallible. Wha? You didn't know this?

4. I know that Bush talks to God...
...I just think that maybe God is messing with Bush's head when He answers. After all, it was He who invented a sense of huumor.

8. Nah. I think that GWBush is some of kind deranged nincompoop
who's nuts enough to believe that he hears God talk to him. And that God answers him. Delusional tendencies can get most into locked padded cells.

2. I only hope his self-serving demeanor
turns traitor on Bush when he is finally asked to resign, and the entire cabinet implodes with revelations and accusations in the press.

9. I thought Robert McNamara
was the 'whiz kid', or am I dating myself? Heck, what do I know, I was just one of those dumb draftees that added "no value, no advantage, really, to the United States Armed Services over any sustained period of time." - Rumsfeld

11. No, you'r not dating yourself...
(...& that can get real lonely ;) )

Actually, I said (parenthetecially) in my original message, "...he should have read up on Robert McNamara."

Rummy should have known his history before running roughshod over tested & true military wisdom. What an arrogant self-aggrandized putz!

10. If Rummy goes, who will replace him?
Wolfowitz? The guy who believes in a "limited" nuclear war?

Think about what's going on with the AG -- the Crisco Kid will be replaced by a man who thinks the Geneva Convention is "quaint", that torture is o.k., and that the president doesn't have to answer to anyone for anything.

Sometimes it's "the devil you know..."

12. My guess would be someone from the Senate, * might take a page..
from Clinton's playbook. He can't afford to fight battles on several fronts and will need to appease Congress. He is burning his capital fast.

13. I don't know...
...so far, his new appointments have been more intellectually incestuous than ever.
