4. Yes, one of the remaining good things about this country.
Its higher education.

Not surprisingly, the quality is dropping precipitously under Bush.

6. Note the criteria have a bias towards science
from their FAQ: "We tried really hard but were not successful in finding special criteria and internationally comparable data for social sciences and humanities. Many well-known institutions specialized in humanities and social sciences are missing from our list, or their ranks are relatively low."

So don't be surprised by some placings (or absences).

8. I went to #38...
...although it may have explained it I didn't hang around long enough to find what the criteria was. I find it interesting that the statue of Cornelius on campus states that he placed it in Nashville to heal the wounds of sectionalism. Aww who am I kidding, screw the red states.

9. yeah, right. good list
UCSD the THIRTEENTH finest university in the WORLD?

eight california schools in the top 55, four in the top seventeen?

this list is like reading the local newspaper TV listings, in which the 'highlights' are paid for by the stations

big laughs here

Rutgers?

Penn State?

Florida?

U Cal Irvine?

this is a joke, right?
