Born Again Christian Man authorizes Torture of Muslim Iraqi's
I admit, this is a duplicate thread and the title reads like the National Inquirer. But, from my chair here, this is how the headline really should read.

Bushwad called upon on his Born Again Christian status throughout the campaign, and I would like to know if this is how a true born again Christian behaves. I tend to believe it is, and my feeling is that the Republicans are not the morally superior race that they cackle themselves up to be.

5. "Christianity" is not the problem, it's the twisting of the words of JC
that are. In fact, Jesus is considered the "Prince Of Peace" by most so called Christians.

If your remark were directed toward "Muslims" ~ it would be considered a bigoted one.

10. Well, excuse me.
But apparently those would be the actions of Jesus because a "publicly confessed, born again, church goin, bible readin, christian".

Either you do not understand the "faith" like Bush does, or you are not a Christian.

But Bush and his ilk do not speak for all Christians.

:hi:

Though, my comment was directed at another person I believe?

14. Yes, I spoke out of turn.
I was wondering what would happen if I formed an argument around two Ideas.

First the Republicans framed GWB as a "Southern, White, Born Again, Bible Reading, and Church Goin Christian Man" with "high moral values" Take their momentum and link it with something un-christ-like.

Next, when the decent folk who fit that description protest, hit them with the Republican idea of "You are with us or against us" as in "Understand the bible like me, or you are not a Christian"

Would an argument of this type have the necessary inertia to fracture a portion of the republican support for bush?

It would take OUTRAGE to accomplish this which is why I was trying to create outrage.

Apparently, this test was a dud.

16. Actually, it's a very good point. I totally agree that we need a vocal
*cough* obnoxious left wing Christian movement. Trouble is, most liberal Christians are respectful of others beliefs.

I am certain that we will see a Southern/Christian/Democrat run and probably get the nomination in 2008. Edwards or a Governor from the South like Warner perhaps?

9. Actually, I have read the good old fashioned Christian Bible.
Mostly the Revised Standard edition, and in fact, the whole fucking thing with the exception of the book with all those begets. And no, I did not find a list of durty words in there that I should not type.

In reality though, it is Judas, I mean Bushwad who claims to be a born again bible readin Christian man, and he is the one who advocates torturing those heathen Iraqi Muslims. And, not I Sir.

Apparently Jesus would condone nailing "enemy combatants" to the cross.

How can you not know this? Do you read a bible that is different than GWB's?

: sigh

19. either you're sarcasm-impaired, or I am.
non-sarcastic, then....jesus never avocated torture. therefore, if bush does, that means he's strayed from the teachings of Jesus...right? Jesus said to turn the other cheek and to love your enemies, and spoke AGAINST an eye for eye.

I'm not saying YOU avocate torture, but you seemed to be (and still seem to be) implying that Jesus did, when he did not.

This is all muddled.

simpler response: torture = bad, Jesus against it.
Bush loves torture, therefore, Bush NOT a christian.

8. I totally agree.
Lets shove the "moral high ground" idea right up their ass.

The more we relate the rodent and his actions to those of a "Southern Born Again Christian Gentleman" maybe the more the decent folks who also fit that description will want to distance themselves from the new Republi-KKK-lan party

13. You make a good point here Tim
We should highlight this atrocity Bush has given his "blessing" to and force his self-righteous supporters to explain how they feel about it.

15. YES
And attempt to do it in such a way that it fractures a bit of support for the weasel. I believe the answer is outrage.

Create OUTRAGE in the decent religious folk, and after the emotion settles, they may be filled with a resolve against the man.

The religious also lothe the "wolf in sheeps clothing type". It is their card, why not play it.

18. An excellent suggestion
however there is still a contingent that seems to control the media that if * were found in bed with a young boy would somehow justify it

but yes, the hypocrisy should be pointed out

Jesus wouldn't advocate torture
