NEVERMIND... None of you actually read what I said. You responded to what you think I said.

1. Uh, the baby's alive outside the mother now.
I can understand why they'd say this.

2. sorry--that was a baby
and if we need to fight for this one to be called a fetus, we are only kicking ouselves in the ass--then it's a "late term blank." Can we please dredge up some common sense along with the passionate activism?

3. Do we give birth to fetuses or babies? The baby was brutally delivered
after the mother was murdered.

Do not make this into an abortion argument. It isn't one.

4. This is a tough one.
Certainly, she should be charged with first degree murder with special circumstances.

The baby/fetus issue, though, is a difficult thing to decifer, according to the law.

Do we pro-choice folks agree that when a fetus emerges from the uterus and takes its first breath, it is then a baby?

I don't know...this is a sticky issue. I don't think it's fair to lable people "wingnuts" because they think the fetus became a baby after it took its first breath.

5. Not "pro-choice"
They don't say "pro-choice." They say "pro-abortion."

Do you actually know anybody who is "pro-abortion"???

I'm pro-choice. But I'd like to see the day when abortions aren't performed because people CHOOSE not to have them.

8. a corollary: abortions not performed because all pregnancies

9. That seems simple enough to me... but I know there are people
that will not agree, because some of us are afraid to embrace that simple concept. I am pro-choice by nature--but not pro-abortion. I would not want the responsibility of telling any woman what she MUST do when faced with a pregnency.

But I just do not see how this case is causing such angst among some of my pro-choice brothers and sisters here at the DU. Somebody help me...

Not "Pro-Life," they are "Anti-Choice." :think:And I don't know anyone who is "Pro-Abortion," we are "Pro-Choice"
