NewsHour: Terence Smith & Neil Lewis whitewash the ACLU's charges |
|
Did anyone listen to the show tonight? If not, go to the website--it's archived.
Terence Smith (who USED to be with the New York Times) interviewed Neil Lewis (who IS with the New York Times) and DANCED around the most damning charges--they didn't even READ OFF the contents of the FBI's e-mail saying Bush authorized it. Instead, Neil just repeats the whitewash that the WH is "looking into it", a sort of vague reference to knowledge of/involvement by the White House in a way that dismisses it without even specifying what "it" is!
I know that PBS is worried about losing federal funding but do they have to go THIS far?
Write to them and tell them that you will cancel your public funding if they have decided to become nothing more than another mouthpiece of the sad-ministration.

1. Let's tell PBS to DEMAND that the President face these |

charges. Let the American people hear from the commander and chief's own lips whether or not he'll fess up to ordering torture. Better yet, get him under oath. That's why we need a special prosecutor. If he lies then, it's perjury--which is what the GOP went after Clinton on, after all.
