Why the hell are we offering up our young soldiers for a lie??
And how are WE going to help them return to society?? These amazingly patriotic young babies (yes, that's what they are, including my 25 y/o cousin in Falluja) are pumped up by the devious defense dept., led by Romsferatu, with the righteousness of their mission, sent over the line to Iraq and blown to bits...This administration "loves" them as they send them off to defend GW Bush's ill fated folly, and do their best to forget them when they have no arms, legs or faces or lives (how many funerals has GWB attended???)...other than token and false sympathy.

There are many military family groups out there doing their darndest to fill the gap that our leaders have failed at, that is protecting their children by buying them body armour that our GOV"T should have provided but instead, paid our treasury to mysterious "contractors" and Halliburton in an almost obscene display of robbery. We MUST support the military family groups and me MUST remember our babies when they come back! Do we know of a group performing this service? It's not our Gov't as we know there are Iraq vet homeless now.

The "Yellow magnetic ribbon support our troops" set is all for political show. They won't be there for the armless and legless and those with shattered minds..."best put them in jail ya, when they relive their nightmares on main street"..No good. We, if we stand for our liberal principles, much reach out the hand of kindness and help these men and women reclaim their lives and recover from the lies of GWB. I suggest we establish a charity, symbol, a red and blue ribbon, red, for their blood, blue for those of us who did not vote for Bush but stand behind our troops who went when they were called. They truly are heroes in the most profound sense, not just for a mangled soundbite.

I am familiar with establishing PACS and charitable organizations and, after today, am seeking those who want to help establish a fund for Iraqi vets so they won't think they are forgotten.

3. we tried
Back in November, we tried to fire the man responsible for this mess. Didn't work.

I don't know how long we're staying in, or how much blood and money we will have wasted when the last day of the war dawns.

Things are the way they are because there are some powerful people who like it this way. Because of that, the odds are always going to be against everything we try to do, even if reason and principle are on our side.

It's hard not to feel discouraged, sometimes.

I don't have an answer to your question except the people that have taken us to another land, to exploit oil that does not belong to us, and to kill thousands of innocent Iraqis and our own American kiddos have never been held accountable it seems.

If individuals like Dick Cheney, George Bush and even Donald Rumsfeld (minor stint in military but no war time) had been in a war themselves, I don't believe they would be shooting off their pistols and carelessly wreaking havoc at the expense of hundreds and thousands of lives.

They have no investment in the pain they are inflicting, because they themselves have never felt the pain they are inflicting.

Likewise, there is no logic to what we are doing, because there is simply no logic. Its dishonest, it's crazy, its heartbreakingly cruel and mentally disconnected from any reality to send innocent, idealistic young (and any-aged*) souls into a place that will forever negatively impact and/or impair their lives.

I heard someone say the other day that the only substantial answer to this dilemma is for our troops to stop going to Iraq. He believed the only way to stop a war is to not attend the party.

I would imagine that is easier said than done, but what other alternative is there? The individuals needing to go to war are of course those who are bellowing the loudest about the glory and necessity of it.
