Tony Blair working on Middle East Peace - good for him. |
|
I hope he can put one together. Myabe he will be a good middleman. Great Britain doesn't come with all the baggage and hatred that we do.

2. I have never believed that about Tony Blair |
|
Can't really say why not. But if he can help to put together a peace agreement that holds - then more power to him. Especially if he can do it without Bush. Maybe he wants to leave his own legacy. And that would be a great one to leave with.

3. At the end of the day, peace will only come when the |

Palestinians and Israelis can look at each other and plan for the future, rather than dwell on the past. And in my opinion that will only happen when they run out of bullets lol, which is to say never.

4. Nice to see Blair stepping up to the plate now that Clinton is |
|
gone and Bush shows no interest in this issue. It's also nice that he's trying to undo all the damage his country has done to the ME (and therefore global security and peace).

5. I think Blair has a chance to creating peace in the Mid-East like a .. |
|
...serial rapist have a chance of getting to visit his victims to 'make love'.
I don't think he has more street cred among the Arabs than Bush. They hate his guts. Among the Israelis the picture would be different, but not to a great extent. They'll see that Blair isn't getting support from his own people, and won't bet on a loser to make their master plan go through - whatever that is. The extreme right will think he's too soft and lenient and the left/center just recognizes him for what he is: Another fascist prick.

.. peace in the ME was within the realm of possibility. People shook hands. Arafat was giving Rabin sly winks, and getting a pat on the back in return. Structures for a Palestinian society was created. By European and US taxpayers money, if I'm not much mistaken ;-)
The Palestinians relaxed and started to live their lives again. The Israeli relaxed and started to live their lives again.
It was, like, normal for a while.
But then...
Peace in the ME is possible when enough people believe it is.
