American Taliban. I worry about where we are headed.
It seems to me that the extreme fundamentalist right is poised to take some major positions in Congress in 2005. It is indeed a scary time in large part because the Media has been co-opted. They are in step and of one voice with the freakish right and many people who really aren't paying attention are buying into their agenda because they are so distracted by all the fear and noise.

I fear for my childern and the Orwellian world they will inherit. We must do a better job and leave them with a better place. We must be more vocal and we must try nto stem the tide.

2. This tide has come in and gone out many times
This isn't the first time we have a revival of Christianity in America and it being used by fundamentalists to gain power. It goes in cycles and we just happen to have the misfortune of living through one of those cycles. Five to ten years down the road it will all be over till the next time.

3. I hope you're right.
I worry that the voting has been co-opted and the "christians" (in name only), are gathering more power than in previous generations.

4. I may be wrong
but I think they will in a couple of years start turning on each other trying to prove who is more pure in their doctrine, people will get tired of them and well perception is everythign and I see them as strong as they appear to be. They of course have the biggest mouths and have politicians speaking in support of them in the hopes of wooing them but in the ne dis all smoke and mirrors. Though that doesn't absolve us from keeping a damm close eye on them.
