Happy Holidays From Iraq... Dec. 23, 2004....
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 07:30 AM by leftchick
I would say Merry Christmas but it appears the asshat* has taken Christ out of Christmas for Iraqi Christians! How ironic, right fundies??

People look at a crater left when a natural gas tanker exploded in Mahoumdiya, some 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of Baghdad, Iraq (news - web sites), Thursday Dec. 23 2004, killing four people and injuring about 50, according to hospital director Dr. Dawoud al-Taei. The tanker, seen in background left, was en route to Baghdad when, according to witnesses, it was hit by a rocket and exploded. (AP Photo/Haidar Fatehi)

An Iraqi girl looks at a figure of Santa Claus in a store selling holiday decorations in Baghdad, December 21, 2004. Iraqi Christians, most from the early Assyrian and Chaldean churches, say they will celebrate this Christmas quietly at home. Few will be showing up to church on Christmas morning, scared that insurgents who have bombed churches, mosques and Muslim religious festivals, will strike again. Photo by Ceerwan Aziz/Reuters

2. Another.... Hooray! Fallujah residents get "home"!

An Iraqi soldier stands at the entrance as Iraqis wait at the city limits to be allowed to enter Fallujah Thursday, Dec. 23 2004, as first of the town's 300,000 residents who fled last month's U.S.-led offensive started returning. People are returning despite reconstruction problems, including the water purification plants which remain out of use, forcing families to depend on mobile tanks. (AP Photo/Hadi Mizban)

6. Tell it to this guy...
11 Dec.
“My list is now 32,” says Salam as he arrives at the hotel, “Now 32 of my friends have been killed.”

He still has tears in his eyes, even though he’s being stoic. Another of his friends has been shot and killed. “You know I feel like shit every time I add someone to my list. Sometimes it feels like it is every day,” he says.

Welcome to Iraq. Where the news gets better with each passing day.

Heavy fighting is continuing in Fallujah. While the military claims to be in control of the situation, they are bombing areas of the city again with warplanes.

7. YOu know whats really sad??
Last April, when the US attacked Fallujah the first time, scientists did some field tests and found that the city was poisoned with 250,000 times more radioactive nulear waste from bombings than was recorded in Nagasaki after the A-bomb. And these people have no choice but to go back to their radioactive wasteland? Sad...
