Did I just hear.............. |
|
that Dean and Gray are having a joint press conference today at 2PM?
Oh I hope so!! SOMEONE (of the candidates)should be out there supporting him. And if this is true, Dean has scored again with me at least.
sorry is this isn't appropriate for GD but I wanna know about this.

1. If he saves Davis, this will look very good for him. |
|
If the recall turns around and is voted down after Dean has a joint confrence with Davis, he.. well.. the other guys and gal can forget it.

it shows he has some guts the others don't. Really, I'm just glad someone is standing up for Gray in this fiasco.I would support any candidate or Dem who would do so. And saying this thing is just WRONG. A repuke power play again.

If Davis loses, what would that mean for Dean?

I think any Dem that stands up for Gray Davis is helping California and the Democratic Party in general, and it will be hard for that to be spun negative.
Even Bustamante is running on a "No on Recall, Yes on Bustamante" stance.
I know Dean's in California this weekend, and I would be disappointed if he didn't say something.

13. I don't know about that... |
|
I don't think Dean can "save" Davis. But I do think that his standing up for him (if he does) is a positive thing (another poster on this thread said Edwards earlier appeared with Davis).
I hope that it rallies the Dean people who are already well-organized in California to work on the recall for the next month. We are members of the Democratic Party, after all.

15. many democrats and liberals |
|
in california i have seen many democrats and liberals blame davis for every problem. they are so ignorant, they make no mention of dick cheney and his hiding records from energy meetings. or how there is a huge mess in the entire country.and a recent blackout in the northeast. it just makes me sick to see them be so ignorant on this. as if it's all davis' fault when davis was one of the first to say the energy problem was a result of manipulation which has been proved.

and Davis hasn't helped himself much, he's just not terribly appealing.
Plus he took a lot of heat for increasing funding for prisons while taking money from the prison guard union.
As for the energy crisis, obviously not Davis' fault, he suffered for simply being in power when it happened and for people not being curious enough to ask the right questions about Cheney, etc.

it's a rumor. I read it on CNN. It was an announcement of sorts but I haven't seen it since then on CNN. So, I just can't say for sure. That's why I'm trying to find out! Usually, I get wireless notices from Dean Camp, but as of right now, nothing.

5. Why can't all the Democratic candidates do something together |
|
for Texas and California? One show of solidarity for these two issues.
Am I being naive?

14. I'd like to see that too |
|
The closest they all come to working together is when they all bash the President in a debate. But even then each candidate has to try and distance himself or herself from the pack; that's the way it works.
That being said, I sure would like to see them put that aside for a day and come out both against the recall and against redistricting in TX.

I posted to this thread earlier, but guess my message did not make it. I saw that announcement, but it was so quick. More like something appearing quickly on the screen. Thought I saw 4:00.

9. Incidentally, Edwards appeared with Davis at an anti-recall event |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 11:38 AM by AP
about a week or two before it was publicized that Clinton was advising Davis. And I think, if Davis pulls this out, it will be Clinton who gets the credit, since it was his advice to make the issue about Democratic leadership vs Republican leadership, and about the Republicans overthrowing democratic elections in their quest for total control.

Why didn't he get more publicity for that? I think all the Dem candidates, because of their visibility, should stand up for Gray.

12. in 2002 it was clinton also |
|
in 2002, riordan was ahead in the republican primary, enough that he didn't attack the other republicans during the primary, but went directly and only after davis. bill clinton told davis it would be stupid to allow riordan to get away with these attacks for so long without responding which is why davis targeted riordan in the primaries making conservatives question riordan and end up supporting simon which made it easier for davis to win in november.
