The father of a fallen soldier on Hardball just...
did some major history revising. He said we lost 1000 soldiers in Germany during the first year after the war. If we did, it was not because of any damn fighting, or insurgency movement. Of course, he was the pro-rummy parent, and he made the remark, free of any correction or qualifiers.

5. This is commonplace Republican nonsense.
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 08:08 PM by rzemanfl
Poor guy believes it. There were exactly zero combat deaths in Germany and Japan after the surrenders. None, zip, nada, zilch, zed, naught. Not any.

6. Even the Rand Corp says Germans offered NO resistance!!
And they are hardly a liberal bastion. I guess the GOP are at the point where they feel so entitled they'll just throw lies out there and insist that people believe them. Left is right, up is down, and zero somehow equals 1,000....

7. You're right
this poor father is repeating old (and, as always, wrong) hate-radio fakespeech. This is an old fake statistic that surfaces now and then. Mathews should have called him on it. Even in his grief, he should not repeat fake-radio lies. We're not helping our country by allowing the lies to go unchallenged.

8. Oh where, oh where have my werewolves gone?
They just make it up. We just have to keep track of all the mendacity and call them on it.

Who's using whom here? A father is either being used by the right or using his son for his fantasyland pronouncements. Perhaps the dead child believed all of this crap too, but if so, who's responsible for that?

Hiding behind an aggrieved parent to continue promoting mass murder is ugly beyond belief, but these are days to try one's incredulity.

9. I for one, find it impossible to keep up with all the lies.
They tell so many, so often, it boggles the mind. They really believe that a lie told five times becomes the truth.

10. so sad...
I hope liberals won't only feel sorry for a fallen soldier when the parent hates Bush. This parent obviously believed Bush's lies, just like his son probably did. It's not their fault, it's Bush's fault. I hate the right-wingers in the government more than the average repug voter. They are misinformed and want to believe the best of the US government, the repugs in power just bring forth more death and heartbreak.

11. Sorry, but I disagree...
This is what happens when citizens are incapable of critical thinking. It will take a hell of a traumatic incident to shake people like him.
