Is anybody watching Aaron brown tonight???
His guest is Michael Ware, an amazingly honest, Time correspondent, discussing how we have lost control of the situation in Iraq. He videoed the battle of Fallujah, including stuff the military won't let him show...Incredible and chilling. He is all about supporting our troops but is afraid they are dying in vain.

1. Amazing interview!
Very sobering and truthful assessment of what's going on in Iraq now.

I can't believe that Time named bush Person of the Year. Don't they listen to their own reporters?

2. Are you kidding?
They'd rather listen to the White House.

4. Remember, Time also had Hitler on the cover -
it's not about "good" but about having an impact on the nation/world.

6. I know, but the accompanying article was glowing! Not negative
as it should've been. I couldn't believe the "ten gallon hat leadership" remark.

7. That's way back when journalists had got their independence and backbone.
Those days were long gone. Now their job security is more important than telling the truth.

11. Not to pick a fight, but
looking back on the journalistic freedom of the yesteryears I don't see anything.

Matter of fact they never had more freedom than now. Being embedded is one thing, being a fucking tool is something else. And that is not left to the reporter to decided. The damaged is made by the corporate HQ back in the states.

5. Aaron Brown's Newsnight is the only show I see for real news.
A very thoughtful person. Plus, his show is the only one I know of that gives tribute to each fallen soldier. I try to have my hand over my heart when the names are listed. They deserve no less. This show is a must see. No political crap, only the truth.

8. Same from Anne Garrels (NPR) on Minnesota Public Radio today...
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 10:58 PM by mediaman007
She calls the situation in Iraq, chaos. She doesn't indicate that there is much progress. In fact, she thinks we have passed the time when we could have made a difference.

(its about an hour, but you will get the idea in about 15 minutes)

9. I trust Ware as far as I can throw him...
Let's just say there's a reason he's allowed so much access and why the CIA helps him with his "foreign fighters" contacts...

12. Well then, based on his reports
His handlers want the troops out as bad as we do! He, based on his reports is not toeing the party line, if that line is to support Bush w/o question!
There is a definite contra-indicator, and I believe the troops are beginning to feel this, that is we are losing this *'ing war, and they DO NOT WANT US THERE! We are being fed by the Bushistas an incredible lie; the truth is, the US is not even able to support its own troops in the field! Why hasn't Bush attended even ONE funeral? I guess he could care less....

14. I'm not saying he's necessarily co-opted...
I'm saying he may being sold a story when it comes to who's behind the influx of foreign fighters.

I admire his reporting from a VERY dangerous area of the world.
I admit that he's getting the concerns of the troops out to the people.

My own belief that this war is illegal, immoral and being orchestrated by our PNACGOPDLCBIlderberger overlords colours my thinking...I freely admit.

I have a problem with keeping my own perspective my own perspective...sorry.

10. There are a FEW news programs that have not yet been co-opted.
We must remember to support our troops who are there doing their duty, and are being FAILED by their civilian commanders. THEY are who must be held accountable. Send a phone card, a care package, love and support, we are there for THEM, our brave soldiers! THAT is not about politics, they are amazingly brave. Our duty is to get them the hell out of there with dignity.
