1. It makes me want to puke
that Reagan is two points higher than FDR in that last poll

and that Dubya is above Jimmi Carter and Teddy Roosevelt

On a positive note Clinton trounced Dubya 3 to 1.

2. Clinton trounced "*" by a 3:1margin....................
But I'd bet my last dime that after "*"s 2nd term is over the Reslugs will want to rename every government building, highway etc. that ISN'T named after Ronnie Rayguns already, after "*". He was such a great "war time" pResident and all. :eyes:

3. Surprising how JFK still holds . . . after all these years too . . .
Edited on Fri Dec-24-04 05:51 AM by TaleWgnDg
I've often wondered how JFK will fare over the ages . . . Don't get me wrong, I, personally, think he was great for the country at the time and did a superb job against Sergei Nikita Krushchev when they locked heads over the "Cuban Missile Crisis." What an entirely different time THAT was!!

I'll bet not many in DU were alive at that time, correct?

edited to add: Time will, undoubtedly, push George Walker Bush down to the bottom. His father, too, will remain at or near the bottom. Unquestionably. Most likely history will confuse father with son and vice versa. Some legacy, that!

4. I agree
When the effects of his policies have trickled down and more and more Americans are affected - he'll have almost no support.

5. according to a Salon article
bush* is heading to the inauguration as the MOST UNPOPULAR pResident...

so much for a mandate

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/12/21/unpopular/
(you may have to wade through some advertising to get to the article...)

Republicans like to brag about the sweeping mandate that President Bush received on Election Day. But as he prepares for his second term, Bush approaches Inauguration Day with historically weak job-approval ratings, according to a series of new opinion polls. Unless there's a dramatic turnaround in public sentiment between now and Jan. 20, Bush will be sworn in to office with the lowest job-approval rating -- barely 50 percent -- of any president in the last 80 years, or since modern-day presidential polling began.

"It's striking how weak he is right now," says presidential historian Richard Shenkman, editor of George Mason University's History News Network. "You'd have to go back to Woodrow Wilson to find a president who was reelected in a position as weak as this one. There's been no euphoria around Bush's win."

Since his 3-percentage-point win over Sen. John Kerry, Bush has experienced a complete lack of bounce in the polls. In fact, in at least one national survey, Fox News' Opinion Dynamics poll, conducted Dec. 14-15, Bush's approval rating has fallen five points in the last month, to 48 percent.

6. Well, the average news is...
That as The Chimp reveals his true face and his true plans, sticker shock is gonna set in, bigtime. What will be the tipping point that sends this country into the streets? The draft, and it is coming.

Welcome back to the late 60's/Early 70's. I hope the music is as good as it was back then.

It's all coming back, new and improved. Just as sure as God made them little green apples.

7. IMHO, the musics not as good
and there's going to be more blood

"There's blood in the streets, it's up to my ankles
Blood in the streets, it's up to my knee
Blood in the streets in the town of Chicago
Blood on the rise, it's following me"

8. America...
...conned into thinking it was buying a small tree, instead winds up with a Lemon bush. Not only will there be sticker shock, new lemon laws are coming down the pike.

As for the music: I don't see how that era will ever be matched. For one thing, most of the music today seems designed to make money, whereas the music of the sixties was a meassage of Peace, Love, and Fun.

But it would be nice if a new era of motivating music was to arrive. But let's face it, the kids these days?....<grin>

9. A lot of good information here and some insights about politics:
The Dems would do well to learn from some of this information (assuming it is supported by other polling data and the scientific method of the polling is sound.)

Look at the questions about religion and personal belief. There are a lot of folks out there who personally are supporting traditional views (strong support for the death penalty as well as belief in God and other Judeo Christian teachings.) While you have that strong personal support and agreement for religion and religious teachings shown, you have a lot of people who are uncomfortable with religion tied to the nation's leaders.

The Dems need to do a better job of hitting the core message that your personal ideologies are yours, but we feel the nation should never be a theocracy. IMO, civil liberties are the key to winning elections.

I am blown away by the support for Stem Cell research:

There is a lot more there to check out, and digest. Used properly, it could be a lot of help for the Dem party--if only the DNC would listen!

Thanks for posting this.

10. Interesting.
Of course, these polls aren't entirely scientific, because participation was voluntary. Still, there is probably some contradiction between the opinions a person espouses in these polls and who they cast their ballot for (voter fraud aside).
