What Barbara Bush thinks of the troops
On March 18, two days before the U.S. invasion, Barbara Bush had an interview with ABC-TV's Diane Sawyer.
''Why should we hear about body bags and deaths and how many, what day it's gonna happen?'' Mrs. Bush declared. ''It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?''

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/opinion/6695128.htm

This pretty much sums up what these sickening Repubs think of other humans.

1. How absolutely hateful that statement is.
OMFG! she should be ashamed of herself saying that publicly. No wonder her son is such a tyrant.

5. Um...
Has she had to worry about her sons putting their lives on the line?

One can see how the mating of Mr. "The Vision Thing" and Mrs. "It's Not Relevant" could produce the ignoramus who has tilted the world on its ear.

6. She has a book coming out in October
according to reports a couple of months ago. In it, she's going to smear everyone who ever crossed the path of a Bush, including Repugs like David Gergen. Even her publishers asked her to tone it down. I haven't heard anything about it lately. I wonder if they persuaded her to pull it? I have to wonder why she isn't content to bask in the afterglow of a public who sees her as a benevolent white-haired grandma. This book would reveal her to be the small-minded vindictive woman whe really is.

Her blood is bluer than blue. We are all serfs to her aristocratic heritage. Kneel before your master, swine! She represents all that is evil in the world.

7. Human life is only valuable
When it is political currency.

This is another reason, in my opinion, that could justify 3,000 innocent American deaths in a terror attack. This is an indication of LIHOP.

What the fuck do they care how many Amerians die?
Think of the approval ratings!
Think of the money we will make!
Think of the power we will have!

12. Al Franken is right
He said in his new book that based on how mean Babs is - he met her on a flight from Houston to DC - he knows now why Chimp is so mean and petty and vindictive. He is his momma's son.

Read that chapter about Babs, it is poetry for the last few paragraphs.

13. spiteful old hag
Her "beautiful mind" only has room for her wealthy friends. The rest of us are proles, the serfs of the regime who do the work and serve as cannon fodder. She makes Nancy Reagan look like a socialist.

I've always thought this woman was an evil, mean-spirited bitch. How they managed to portray her as this sweet white-haired grandmotherly type is a classic case study of Repuke propaganda.

17. She never lost any of her children in combat, so why should she care?
And what makes her addled old mind more beautiful than anyone elses?

The pearls are obviously too tight and are cutting off her oxygen... (but not tight enough?? hahaha!)

18. I'm glad Helen wrote this, but her estimates for Iraqi casualties
seem impossibly low, don't they? 3000?! There were 40 (many of these children) in the village of Hillah (sp? I saw this on BBC), which was bombed by accident (it wasn't a target and even when the planes came no one ran for cover, because there was no military target there). And this is just one incident. And do these figures Helen quotes separate civilians killed from soldiers killed? Lots of the soldiers were just kids too. I have a vague memory of a report more like 30,000 Iraqis killed. Am I misremembering? Also, I have read that the Iraqis are trying to compile a list, but I can't find the link (maybe I didn't save it, drat).

posted in cities and towns all across the country during WWII. Her husband was in harm's way then. Dollars to doughnuts it was "relevant" then.

On edit..a question just came to mind...Do you suppose Ann Coulter is her Illegitimate son?

27. That thought occurred to me pretty quickly. She never

had a son in combat, despite having four sons, but she had to worry about Poppy during WWII. Or maybe she didn't care.

When I heard that Nixon (no piker at hating himself) said "Nobody hates like Barbara Bush," I knew she was a record-holding hater.

And they say Dubya is his mama's boy.

They profess to be Christians, both Dubya and Babs, yet they don't know that Jesus said we are to forgive "seventy times seven," which I take as a poetic way of saying "infinitely." Or they know and don't care.

29. Similar to Leona Helmsley saying
taxes are for little people...

For MILLENNIA the poor have been cannon fodder to fight wars for the rich. In the US while there is no draft in the 1960s sense there is an economic draft. Kids whose parents can afford Harvard or even elite state universities do not join the military.

http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0801-02.htm
"Like salt in the wound is another fact: President Bush, who recklessly tells the Iraqis who are picking off our soldiers, "Bring 'em on," as he stands in front of a portrait of President Teddy Roosevelt on horseback, is all too willing to don the flyboy get-up for a campaign photo opportunity but when he was engaged as a pilot in the National Guard during the Vietnam war, he went AWOL. And still he is the president. How could that be? Could it be that the class privilege that allowed him to enroll in the best schools in the nation even though he was a mediocre student, also excused him from meeting the minimum standard required of members of the armed services? "Apparently so."

snip

"During World War II and the Korean conflict, men from all classes were drafted. During the Vietnam War, Americans still expected a certain level of fairness."

snip

"One does not see well-educated Wall St. brokers or lawyers or physicians lining up to donate a weekend a month to our national security. Are there any Harvard or Yale graduates in Iraq? As French existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre drolly observed, "When the rich wage war it's the poor who die."

snip

"What will the all-working class volunteer army mean for our country in the future? Will the declining status of national service among the upper classes and the working-class's bitter lesson of Iraq II, that a dilettante president plays fast and loose with their lives--lead to an army composed of thugs because no one else will apply? Something must be done immediately to remedy the situation before we come to that crossroads. Otherwise, all our fine words about equality are but window-dressing."

35. I knew the "kindly grandmother" act was just that
Every so often I would see her revealed in some snippet of news clip or something that got through the Bush I Media Sanitizers (so small and disorganized compared to Goebbels v2.0).

She may even be Livia to HW's Augustus (though I soemhow doubt it).

She certainly is mean enough and callous enough to be so, it seems...
