Time Magazine Man of the year 2004: Bush. In 1938 it was Hitler |
|
I kid you not. The subtitle for Bush is "American Revolutionary." I think it should read American Fascist. How are we going to wake people up? I fear for where we are headed when the Geneva conventions mean nothing, torture is promoted and our civil rights are being trampled. We are speeding towards becoming a Facsist Theocracy, and the democrats are putting anti choice people in leadershipo positions. They're not moving to the center any more, they're moving to the right. What will it take to turn this thing around?

Welcome to Attorney General Gonzales' America. Enjoy your stay - but no subversion, now, or we'll lock you away without a trial.

2. Can anyone find Time cover pictures of the two men of the year |
|
Hitler and Bush and post them side by side here?
Revolutions have names, no? Let's name Bush's. How about "The Born Again Idiot's Revolution?"

10. Check out the source of the jpg image |
|
It comes from a site called Hamncheez.com. I'd reckon that the sammich is their version of site signature icon. That's a hell of a lot more clever than a brown paper, bag by the way.

I ran across it at Hamncheez, so when somebody asked for the pic, it popped into my head. I wonder though, if there were two covers, orrr...

15. Sharpie Brigade! Use '911' under his nose to make a Hitler moustache! |
|
Um, this is just a fantasy, ok? Wouldn't dream of doing anything...illegal.
Here's how one would do something like that if one were wicked:
1) Bring your black magic marker to the store. 2) Get a handbasket and put a 4-pack of toilet paper in it. 3) Get a clump of Time magazines from a rack and put'em under the 4-pack in your basket. 4) Find a quiet place in the store to quickly write '911' under his nose as fast as possible. (Supermarkets have aisles with columns in it. They stack product at those columns that could make a table to work on.) 5) Get a different magazine to put on the top of your clump of modified Time magazines and put'em back in the rack. 6) Do your shopping and come back to the magazine rack to remove the protective unmodified magazine. 7) Enjoy your work educating the public as to the true nature of our 'Fearful Leader.'

16. I'm just going to hit my head on my computer desk now. |

In 2001, TIME took the "safe" route and put Rudy Giuliani on the cover. While in times past (pun intended) it wasn't considered an honor, now it obviously is. There is no sane, logical person who can honestly say that Rudolph Giuliani had the MOST IMPACT in the world for good or evil that year. The obvious and horrifying choice would be Osama bin Laden, which would probably cost TIME over 4/5 their subscriptions, and quite possibly put the enter magazine in the poorhouse. But at least they would have been honest in their journalism.
No, I believe that TIME does consider this an "honor" this year. Bush is no "revolutionary". He's dirty politics to an astronomical degree, and TIME whores itself out by naming him "Person of the Year".

18. this is not a real honor |
|
it is just a gimmick to sell magazines. it has no real value -- like a nobel prize.
being time's person of the year is no more valid or meaningful than winning a MTV video award.
(i do agree that shit-for-brains is the correct choice though)
