Suggestion for potential DU rule regarding the recall |
|
1. It shall be forbidden to use DU to advocate a yes vote on the first part of the ballot.
2. It shall be forbidden to use DU to advocate a vote for any other candidate other than Cruz Bustamente.
I am wondering how people would react to a rule like that. I really think DU should seriously consider implementing that rule, as this is a serious election; and an Arnold victory would be set the state of California back further.
I hope that the admins see this thread and can comment.

People should be able to express their views and acknowledge support for the candidate they see fit.

If you are campaigning for a 'Yes' vote, you are doing the Republican's work for them. People who campaign for a yes vote should be banned from DU.
If you are campaigning for any other candidate apart from Cruz, again, you are breaking DU's rules. These people should also be banned.

3. I agree with you Carlos |

Those two points are the correct, and common sense, positions DU should be taking.
Have people been advocating we vote yes? I hope they are banned if they are?
And have people been campaigning for other candidates apart from Cruz?

But I think the admins should consider implementing it. This recall is serious business.

your full of shit...and the idea really sucks. Why do you always want to divide people? Remember what happened the last tim you advocated such a misguided idea. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not going on. Besides why wouldn't you advocate for Davis? He is the real Gov....

And of course, the control is derived through division.

5. This is the dumbest thing I have ever read |
|
You've got to be kidding me. How can you call yourself Democratic with ridiculous regulations like that? Don't push your luck. People -- especially Democrats -- should be able to vote or comment as they see fit, regardless of what's good or bad for the party. It is in fact that herd mentality that has made the neocon Repubs utterly repugnant. Don't go down that road...

I don't know what your problem is but regulations like this that limit the speech, choice or expression of an opinion, especially informed ones, are paranoid, wrong-headed and dangerous, ESPECIALLY for an organization that prides itself on democratic ideals. I don't mind getting into a debate with you, but simplistic conclusions like yours are a waste of my time...

People who come to this website should be fighting the Republican with every breath they have. Not doing their work for them.
And campaigning for candidates who are not Democrats, when a Democrat is in the race? That is against the rules.

8. Thanks for letting me know how to think, Carlos |
|
And thanks for trying to legislate my thought and speech patterns.
It so happens that I will vote No/Bustamante, but no one will force that down my throat, nor will they tell me I can't talk about it.
Nice try at fascism. Don't you have some Lieberman campaigning to do today?

18. We have chosen not to enforce the 2004 campaign rules at this time |
|
But we reserve the right to do so if we think the problem is getting out of hand.
Now I'm locking this thread before it turns nasty.

make me ashamed to be a member of this message board. All Carlos is doing is saying that people should abide by the rules of this message board. This board is meant for Democrats. Other progressives are welcome but this board is meant for Democrats. Not for people to support Republican policies, not for people to campaign against other Democrats.

Ignore my sig line for a moment. Consider the following things:
- An Ah-nold victory will make California more Democratic for 2004 with the Democrats being outraged at the "stolen" election - A Republican will have an easier time raising taxes than a Democrat - Bustamante is more pro-death penalty than Our Great President - Bustamante is taking contributions which, while legal, are very fishy and exploit dubious loopholes in Proposition 34 - Ah-nold is pro-choice, pro-gay rights until it comes to gay marriage, moderately pro-labor, and moderately pro-gun control
I don't think that the Terminator is better than Bustamante. I think that the situation is not black/white, but gray/gray (no pun intended). Ultimately, I think that the difference between Bustamante and Ah-nold is nowhere near this between, say, Bush and Dean, or even Bush and Gore. This situation is much more complicated than it is in the eyes of the partisan Democrat.
