Iraq war comprimising US ability to deliver aid to tsunami victims?
Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 09:10 AM by hexola
Bush has decalred that we will work with everybody else to "support" aid efforts...pretty freaking weak!

I was wondering if any presidents have used US military assets for relief missions?

Shouldn't we be the leader in the aid effort?

Considering the way these people do business...it would seem they are missing out an oppourtunity to lend aid, gain influnece, and nation-build...

Are we missing the boat?

1. Read my blog entry...
I 'translated' the White House response to the aid question.
The link is under the burning bush.

3. I don't even know how to begin to respond to your post, sword.
So, I'll just quote Jacob Marley: Mankind is our business.

Where did you get the 'UN job description' criteria?

6. LOL!
That's how I found this one! Batting 1.000 so far. My "benefit of the doubt" is now depleted.

7. Iraq war compromises ability to do anything, as any expensive effort would
Until money and military grow on trees, whatever is spent on Iraq in terms of money, military and attention of the government means something goes unheeded or unaddressed.

You can't spend two billion a week and maintain an occupation of a country the size of California and not feel the pinch. Bush tries to disguise the injury by borrowing the entire cost of the war and putting all the danger and death on the volunteer military (soon to be "volunteer" military). If you think of all the things we can't do today thanks to Iraq (anyone think a military response to Iran, NK, or anything else is possible?), think of all the things the NEXT generation can't do.

8. But all things unheeded and unaddressed are small prices to pay to be made
safe and be led by an instrument of God.
