Is Kerry's OH laywer giving a coded message...or not??? |
|
First he says the election in OH doen't deserve the full faith of "the American people" (how I hate that phrase) then he says there is no evidence of fraud or conspiracy and the media shouldn't read into it...Olberman and Fineman are dissecting it. I am still holding onto hope. Anyone in the know?

1. There were 2 different lawyers. |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 01:05 AM by Goldeneye
One Kerry lawyer filed and another made that statement. Don't worry about it. For further reading, try this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x200711

2. It's post election flip-flop. Put up a good front and plan |
|
for 2008. He's not doing anything other than yanking some chain. If KERRY isn't the senator to protest the Ohio electoral votes then he is politically dead man walking to me.
His politically correct as* had better stand up and give us that 27 year old Kerry which I know is still there.

6. If we want to send the message that election reform is necesary |
|
I hardly think Kerry's the guy to contest in the Senate. The focus would become what a sore loser he is, rather than reform.

7. Nope, it would be the candidate can not also be the senator |
|
One hat at a time, m'dear.
And I'd say he's doing more than yanking some chain. If it were all talk, then I might say you're right. But it isn't all talk. There's no reason for him to be doing ANYTHING in Ohio if all he's doing is yanking chain.
He's doing exactly what he said. No more. No less. I hit the reset button a while back. I am in "fix the vote" mode now. Even though I really want it, I doubt highly I will get a President Kerry.
What I want now is a fixed vote so that this won't be so easy to do again.
And I swear, we're in "give an inch, take a mile" mode here. He's involved. It's enough for me. He doesn't have to do it all. He doesn't have to be THE senator.

just that there wasn't proof
Somewhat of a non-denial denial
Corporations and other spin doctors use such wording to avoid the truth but just asserting that truth hasn't come out yet.

5. Man, here it is Monday night ... |
|
Here it is Monday night, the night after the much ballyhooed "big day." Despite the fact that nothing happened, and the fact that nothing is going to happen to alter the "election results," we still have seemingly educated people going on about this!
I can see it now. It will be Summer 2008, and, assuming DU is still around, there will still be people saying, "Kerry's handling this just right. Be patient!"
We were had, people. Plain and simple. Kerry was a stalking horse.
You may flame me now.

9. All democratic senators should stand and protest |
|
There isn't any reason why all of them can't either. Imagine if the tables were turned? Republicans would be screaming in unison about voter fraud. Instead we have to beg for just one? Come on, what's wrong with this picture?

19. have any Democratic Senators said "Paper Ballots" anytime ever? |
|
Has any Democratic Senator said anything to perhaps hint that maybe, a physical record of the vote, say, ballots, might be a good idea, perhaps, and that allowing private corporations run by Republicans may just seem to possibly give just the appearance of a conflict of interest, not that I'm accusing anyone of anything?
No? No Democratic Senators have said anything? I think we have our answer.

That would require a paper trail for all voting machines. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

12. what is a stalking horse? |
|
I took a two week break from DU and this whole biz for the sake of my own sanity, I was become a mean evil and nasty person (more so than usual)so I don't know about the "big day" or whatever.
I've heard something about January 6th...

Is a horse trained to walk beside a hunter so he can get close to the deer. The deer smell and see the horse not the guy with the gun. The hunter can then get a clean shot from over the horse's back.
In politics, I believe, a stalking horse is a candidate whose job it is to drain support from another candidate allowing allowing a third candidate to easily take out an opponent.
In the 2004 primaries some people theorized that Clark was a stalking horse whose job it was to drain support from Dean allowing a more mainstream candidate to emerge. Psst. Clarkies, I don't necessarily support that view myself, I'm just repeating what I've heard.

It's like pouring salt in a wound. Just when I think I've work through my pain, I find threads like this. We have got to move on! The problem that we need to deal with is the voting machines. We all need to grab a sledgehammer, storm wherever the hell they keep the machines, and kick some *$$. Rage against the machine!!!! In real life.

21. Kerry and Bush work for the same people IMHO. |
|
I never wanted Kerry but when he got the nom I was 100% behind him.
But I now know he wasnt 100% for me. Just another establishment DINO.
Kerrys time to call for action has long past. Democracy lives in the Ukraine but not in the USA.
Kerry screwed all of us and if you think otherwise, you are not thinking.
I truly despise the uber rich.

15. Well gee, there is NO EVIDENCE |
|
I think some people just don't understand what evidence, that will lead to a conviction, is. There isn't any. Not to convict anybody on election fraud or conspiracy to commit election fraud. Blackwell? Where's the evidence that he's being ordered to do anything by the Bush Campaign?
Which is not to say elections are being handled honestly and fairly, they aren't. But that's just a huge leap to proving individuals are guilty of an election crime. Kerry is doing what he can to find out everything that happened in this election that shouldn't have. I'm sure the second a single dot can be connected, he'll do it. He's going pretty far out on a limb as it is, as far as I'm concerned.
It's the same as with the people who say "they knew" there were no WMD in Iraq. It's absolutely impossible for them to have "known" that. There's a big difference between suspicion and knowing. Too many people on DU have absolutely no clue what the difference is.

16. Oh God, It sounds a little like... |
|
"I voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it."
At this point I don't know what to believe. No one wants Kerry to come in on his white horse and save the day more than me but increasingly this is looking like a rather cynical attempt on the part of Kerry and the Democrats to deal with the fact that alot of people in the party's base are furious at his quickie concession and lack of concern for the disenfranchisement of minority voters.
Please, John, prove me wrong.
