Should we write to George's people and the media &"suggest" |
|
that he cancel his $40M party and just have a barbeque at the WH, so he could show what a Christian man he is?
He could "donate" the $40M to the Tsunami-ravaged people as a gesture and an example of American Goodwill:)
That could go a long way towards repairing the image he has given us.
How could anyone go against that Good Christian Man's gesture of generosity in the "season of our Lord":)???
Frankly, I don't think the big Whoop-dee-doo for a 2nd term is even appropriate...for either party.. I can understand when the "torch is being passed" to a new president, but when they just get "rehired", why the big deal??
Perhaps a gutsy press person will ask Ole Scotty if it's crass to be spending that much on a silly party, when 55K+ people are dead, there are bodies washing up hourly in 8 countries, and millions of people suddenly have no shelter or even safe water to drink ..

There is another thread on this topic: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2874002&mesg_id=2874002I will suggest here also that we should start a petition asking * to donate the inaugural treasure chest to the tsunami relief fund.

In fact, I think this needs to be repeated.
Who knows how to set up an online petition? I will volunteer to help write it but someone else would have to do the technical stuff.

2. Hey thats a good idea! |
|
I believe I'll write a letter to the editor of the local paper suggesting that very thing. Hope you and others will too.

5. You can start one free at www.petitiononline.com |
|
Go for it! Post the link here once you've created it, so we can keep it kicked and forward the link around the planet. :toast:

7. Just created a petition |
|
it is entitled "tsunami relief effort" and is open to anyone in the world. I think it's active now. I will post a url in a bit. Thanks and please sign it. I may not have worded it as well as it could have been but I tried.

It's really a honest question to be asking, but I do wonder if Kerry were elected whether he would of done it either...
It's not in the nature of politicians (dems or repubs) to blow off their election parties, they are meant as 'pay back' to the people who got them elected.

9. Kerry would've responded with a statement and at least paid lip service |
|
to the idea of scaling back the festivities.
Then again, let's face it--the coronation is weeks away, most Dumbfukkinstanis will have forgotten about the dead brown people by then.
