30 year-old Iraqi woman's view of life in her Country: Losing freedom, |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 06:56 PM by Pirate Smile
not gaining it, because of the lack of security.
She said women stay indoors all day because of the chaos and anarchy. There has been a huge increase in rapes, kidnappings, murders, etc. No civil order.
Most Iraqis live in misery. There is still two hours of electricity on, then four hours off, two hours on, etc. Clean water is still a problem.
Valium addiction is a big problem. It doesn't require a prescription and is $0.20 per bottle. People just numb themselves and there is no treatment, shelters, psychologists, etc. Valium is the escape.
CNN helped with the report but it was shown on Oprah. Her show was doing profiles of thirty year old women living all over the world. The Iraqi women was just one profile.
Her father and brother were both killed by Hussein but she still said life is much worse now.
Why doesn't CNN show this on their channel?

1. Because they are corporate media controlled by the * admin. |

Thanks for the info. That is very sad! Not in my name - I was against the Iraqi War Resolution, and this war from the very beginning!

6. It was interesting and just points out what shallow news coverage we |
|
get here.
The part about the Valium was something I hadn't heard of before.
I think most people in the US think they have electricity and clean water now.
She was obviously someone who was against Hussein so the fact that she said it is so much worse now is really making a statement.

Oprah was under the impression electricity was back on all the time. Gee, I wonder where she got that idea?

4. Actually, it was $0.20 a bottle for Valium. |
|
At least that is what I thought I heard.

The cite I provided from October is almost word for word what has been posted here and in another thread about the Oprah show.
