What is the true meaning of being a Democrat?
I believe that all of us should do volunteer work in some form or another. It shows the world that Democrats are so much better than Republicans because we care about others and the existence of human kindness.

The College that I earned my Associates Degree at asked for volunteers at homeless shelters. We didn't do it for credit or a pat on the back we did it out of the kindness or our heart.

I believe most of us still have our heart in the right place but some of us might have lost the true meaning of caring.

I live in a large City and every day we witness what homelessness is all about. What we are witnessing is frightening and it's getting worse. It use to be that adults were homeless and you wouldn't see kids but we now have homeless families living in the extraneously cold weather and the small kids will never know what it is like to be a child and to be warm and feel secure.

What opened my eyes the most was when I volunteered to work in a womans shelter with several other students. We didn't know what to expect and after we arrived at the shelter it was a feeling that I cannot describe.

We immediately had several adorable little kids run up to us and ask us if we had candy. We came up with a candy bar and a package of saltine crackers and the kids divided everything up evenly.

To make a long story short I keep going back to the shelters and doing volunteer work because my heart goes out to the children and the families in the shelters.

George Bush's American is going to cause more families to become indigent and homeless. Outsourcing will divide families and cause many people to lose homes and roof over their heads.

Shouldn't we be the party that cares more about people? Do we have freepers in our party that go by the name but pass judgment on others?

Shouldn't we all try to care more about causes like homelessness and outsourcing of jobs and make it known so that people can look at our party once again and say the Democrats care about jobs and a place to live?

(How many times can we turn the other cheek before we decide that we can't turn the other cheek any longer? My pain threshold was so bad tonight that I couldn't turn the other cheek anymore)

1. I felt like you and decided to volunteer at
a mens center and free dinning room in the Bay Area. I'm not making a big difference, but I feel better.

10. Doing good deeds in your community is a start
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 02:32 PM by GingerSnaps
When you do good deeds make sure that you wear a tee shirt that promotes the Democrats. Let people know what Democrats stand for. The more that you do for your community and the more that you spread democracy the better off our country will be.

When you do something good someone may not remember your name but they will remember the person with the Democratic hat or tee shirt on and they will remember the help that you provide.

If we all do volunteer work over the next 4 years and spread the word on what we stand for it will effect the ways that some of the hate filled people perceive us as a group.

You can't please some people that will always be filled with hate because they thrive off of hate. Their everyday life is about putting someone else down in order to feel better about themselves.

Each one of us can help our community by spreading the word of our party and by helping others in need.

Peace
