I think that Islamic Rebels have a misconception of American Democracy
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 12:39 PM by trumad
In another statement on its website Thursday, Ansar al-Sunnah and two other rebel groups warned that democracy is un-Islamic. The statement said that democracy could lead to passing un-Islamic laws, such as permitting homosexual marriage, if the majority agrees to it.

"Democracy is a Greek word meaning the rule of the people, which means that the people do what they see fit," the statement said. "This concept is considered apostasy and defies the belief in one God - Muslims' doctrine."

1. Well besides the absurdity...
of the Idea of American "Democracy" either here or imposed abroad. They do sound like our rightwingers, except for the religious difference, I don't really see much of a difference.

4. he seems to believe most of his fellows are hypocrites
That a majority of Muslims would vote for degenerate (as he sees them) things, or that, given time and freedom, they will.

7. RJ Rushdoony (Dominionist) once called Democracy a Heresy
So actually, you're right on the mark.

Once again, the Theocrats, be they Christian or Islamic, are wrong. What does this fool want for a government? Anarchy? In every government, even a Theocracy, there are human hands somewhere that has an influence on the government.

8. This kind of intolerance is characteristic of all Islamic countries.
When that is combined with a judicial system based on the Sharia ( Islamic) Laws, the results can be scary.
