It really pisses me off the way Bushbots think.
I came into work today and was discussing the tsunami disaster with a co-worker who is a republican and Bush supporter. Without any prompting from me, she mentions that she thinks that Bush responded quickly to the emergency. Of course, I was aghast at this. I mentioned the "stingy" part, and she says, "Well we need to balance our book first. Don't you need to balance your book, too? And we're in a war! And we're not just sending money, we're sending aid in other forms, too." She apparently doesn't know that the defense department has a yearly budget of hundreds of billions of dollars. I try to make arguments against all of her perceptions about her it-does-everything-right government, but nothing convinces her that Bush is other than a wise president. And then, finally, she says, "I wish the US can just cloister itself off from the rest of the world so other countries will appreciate us more when we're not around." So I mentioned that during 9/11, many, many countries commiserated with the US, and she says sarcastically, "They did?" This last remark really pissed me off. Sigh. What kind of software programmed these people to think this way???

2. Hmm....something tells me
Statesmanship cannot be practiced following the book "The Rules".

"I wish the US can just cloister itself off from the rest of the world so other countries will appreciate us more when we're not around."

here's an example of a "rule":

Rule Five: Don't Call Him and Rarely Return His Calls. The idea is to return to pre-feminist mind games, exploiting the male hunting urge by playing hard to get.

4. how to talk to a repug
This was posted in a previous thread several days ago, and I bookmarked the link. Sorry if it's repetitive, but seems really important to find a way to communicate more effectively.

8. Thanks for the link. I'm with you on communicating effectively.
But communicating effectively is difficult when logic fails with a republican. It's hard to argue with dogma.

12. TY for that link, yellowdoggess!
I hadn't read it yet. Yes, it was quite good.

What I like to say to those who talk about abortion is "What I don't understand about those who claim to be pro-life is: How do they also condone the death penalty and war?!

I also use the Repug talking points to reveal the TRUE facts. ie, the so called 'healthy forest initiative' , 'clean air act' etc.

What i find is that most Repugs, though intelligent, are just badly uninformed and too egotistical to admit it!

cause of losing the world's "appreciation"! Excellent!

10. Bushbots don't 'think' -- they react
And if they come up against stimuli that they don't have a preprogrammed reaction for, they just shout '9/11! 9/11!'.

Intellectually speaking, I tend to regard them as 'biomass'.

13. Such short sighted stupid people.
Why weren't they talking about "balancing our books" before the Bu$hCo. tax cuts to the haves and the have mores? Why is it only when it's money in relation to the have littles and have nones that the books must first be balanced?

17. It sounds like
she was parroting the "conservate talking points of the day." I heard the same stuff over and over again on c-span's morning call-in show. Every day conservatives call in and they all say the same thing. I am convinced that they are on some email list that tells them to call into c-span and says "xxxxx" - whatever it is for the day. Last week it was the Merry Christmas flack (we are a christian nation, the founders founded this nation as a christian nation, the liberal elites are persecuting us, we have a right to express our religion in publlic). Etc. The Great Republican Echo Machine just echoing away.

18. Or, one can listen to conservative talk radio. I think one can get
republican talking points from listening to that. Personally, I can't stand listening to it -- makes me want to bash my radio.

20. They tend to despise Clinton vehemently, too.
I once got into an argument with the same co-worker because she was bashing Clinton for the Monica thing. I asked her, "What did Clinton do to you? How many of your sons and daughters did Clinton kill?", alluding to the war in Iraq with the last question. I was so disgusted that I had to walk away.

21. Sometimes the best thing you can do
is to just cut these people off. Write them off as dead weight and go about your life, when they've reached that stage in their misdevelopement there isn't any way to reach them.
