It is Time for the People of this Country And The Government to ACT.....
First, Read This.....

http://news.independent.co.uk/world/politics/story.jsp?story=441051

I will say it again.....

They are basically admitting that there NEVER were ANY WEAPONS there in the FIRST PLACE.....

We have ATTACKED a DEFENSELESS COUNTRY.....

We have MURDERED THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE....

We have SACRIFICED our Sons and Daughters.....

We have Destablized the ENTIRE GEOPOLITICAL LANDSCAPE....

And for WHAT?.....

That's right DU'ers.....THAT'S RIGHT.....

NOTHING.....

N-O-T-H-I-N-G....

I lost one of my very best friends to this conflict, and I know others who have suffered loss as well.....The entire COUNTRY of Iraq has suffered untold amounts.....We have destroyed their heritage...Their HISTORY.....

For WHAT?.....

That's right DU'ers....THAT'S RIGHT.....

NOTHING.....

It is time for the People of This Country, For Our Media, For our Government, for the PEOPLE who REPRESENT us.....It is PAST TIME....

It is time to ACT.....

NO MORE....

Do you hear me Mr. Bush, you COAWARD, you THUG.....You inhuman piece of WASTE....DO you hear me Rummy, Wolfowitz, Perle, Rice, Powell, Negroponte, Card, Ashcroft.....You Traitors, you filth....

It STOPS HERE.....

IT STOPS NOW.....

And I will ask the same question again to all of you here at DU and in this country.....

ARE YOU ANGRY YET?.....

1. I would not exactly say it was for "nothing"
Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 06:12 PM by Marianne
what it was for was the profiteering of Halliburton and others and for the boost to the economy that militarism and fascism gives to a country. It was also so the boys in the Bush brigade could finally show the world how much bigger their cocks were than the others. They have the secret formula that makes them bigger, fatter, wider, etc. than all the males in the entire world.

Face it, the US and it's economy is linked to militarism--it is a large, if not a huge, part of the economy.

2. That does not make it right and that does not make it just
There is NO jsutification for what we have done in Iraq.....

NONE....

After this, there is NOTHING that anyone can say that will make it OK.....

We were told there was an IMMINENT THREAT.....That if we did not act now that, how was it that the little Bastard put it? That "Proof would come in the form of a Mushroom cloud.".....

This is an ADMISSION that there was none.....

They KNEW there was NONE....

There is NO EXCUSE....

3. Marianne is not in any way saying that makes it right. She is agreeing
with you -- except for the relatively minor detail where you said the war was for "nothing." She was merely pointing out that the evil SOB's directing this unjust war indeed had a purpose and plan.

5. Oh I know.....
And please Marrianne, don't think my anger is directed at you.....

I know your post was in aggreeance....Please do not misunderstand.....I'm just completely shocked that they are so arrogant as to basically admit the whole thing was a lie......

But Dear God HOW can we let this stand.....

The ARROGANCE of these people.....Here it is in Black and White.....

"Yeah, we lied. We told you a story so you'd get on board and be good little citizens....So?"

This is not breaking and entering and eighteen minutes of missing tape.....

This is was a WAR.....THOUSANDS have needlessly DIED.....

I simply cannot accept that.....

4. I think that Marianne
was not trying to justify it, just point out what the criminals' reasons were. I think that you will find that most here on DU are equally pissed off, though not on so personal a basis as the loss you have suffered. I would be willing to bet that 95% of DUers would like to see the whole admin hauled off in chains to guantanomo, or the chair, if they believe in the death penalty. The loss of your friend really brings it all home, thanks for posting, you're in the right place.

OH, and welcome to DU!! :hi:

I think my anger is just boiling over on this today....

I have had enough.....

Enough of the lies, Enough of the decit, Enough of the Death, Enough of the Destruction.....

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.....It's time for these Bastards to go.....

Again Marianne, I hope you did not misunderstand.....I know you were agreeing....I should have made myself more clear....My apologies....

I think after this little admission today, this Draws The Line for me......

This has got to STOP.....This country, this WORLD has suffered enough.....

7. Welcome, Watcher, to DU
You have good prospects for fitting in here. However, you'll have to get in line behind the hundreds of other DU'ers who have proclaimed just what you have.

We're getting there (regime change).... it's coming. And when it does we shall all join our voices together and let it be well known that this kind of crap from this kind of regime will never be tolerated again in America. Either that or we'll all end up in Gitmo.

10. You are quite welcome
I love eloquence and your passion, please don't lose it, but use it. Write your congressmen, write letters to the editor, write to columnists and other media outlets, organize demonstrations, do all you can to let the country they have been fed a plate of crap by a bunch of corrupt, hubristic hypocrites!! There are many here working hard to get these guys out of office ASAP!!!

Your friend paid the ultimate price but you have suffered a greivious loss as well, my thoughts go out to you. I feel this nation has suffered a loss as well.

Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 07:20 PM by DoYouEverWonder
But you do know you are singing to the choir.

Yes we are angry. I started to get angry when Bu$hCo stole the 2000 election. Then I really got angry on 9-11 when Bu$hCo killed 3000 innocent New Yorkers. I grew up in NYC and know a lot of people who were directly effected. And guess what, I'm still mad, that is why I hang out here and rant and rave. I still believe the good guys always win? At least, I hope so.

- Many DUers (you know who you are) have rationalized the invasion of Iraq. And I would guess so have most Americans.

- He who owns the media owns the 'truth'.

This is 2003.....

If you have a point userdave, then state it......

If you actually can find a justification for what we have done in this War, then provide it.....Because if you actually support this War after reading something like that, then you are no better than the people who have committed the crime....

Otherwise, go back to your "Everything is Clinton's Fault" Matrix.....

I will have nothing of people like you today.....

Where is the link Between Sadaam and Al-Queda.....Between Iraq and 9/11.....

Show us Dave....ENLIGHTEN us.....

Tell me in your best Trailer Park Wisdom why MY BEST FRIEND HAD TO DIE FOR ALL THIS....Why ANYONE had to die.....

19. Glad to see someone's.....
....waking up.

Now ask yourself what won't these people do to hang on to power?

Would they steal an election?

If that failed would they simply cancel the election?

What exactly would stop them?

Remember folks, those good ol' Emergency Powers your Congress handed to Bush give him limitless powers.........do you honestly believe he won't use them?

20. Read the Independent article in the link
<snip>

The "current and serious" threat of Iraq's WMD was the reason Tony Blair gave for going to war, but last week the Prime Minister delivered a justification which did not mention the weapons at all. On the same day John Bolton, US Under-Secretary of State for arms control, said that whether Saddam Hussein's regime actually possessed WMD "isn't really the issue".

The 1,400-strong Iraq Survey Group, sent out in May to begin an intensive hunt for the elusive weapons, is expected to report this week that it has found no WMD hardware, nor even any sign of active programmes. The inspectors, headed by David Kay, a close associate of President George Bush, are likely to say the only evidence it has found is that the Iraqi government had retained a group of scientists who had the expertise to restart the weapons programme at any time.

----------------------

The Watcher, I hear your pain and frustration in your post. Yes, damn it, it is time. That's it - I can't stand sitting here with still more damning info that NO ONE IN THE MEDIA IS TALKING ABOUT!!!

They can't be allowed to do this again - spin - lie.

But it isn't for "nothing". It is for world domination by the neo cons. If you're not familiar with The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) report of September 2000, I suggest you learn all you can. The report pretty well lays out the events of the past 2 1/2 years.

Today the Guardian newspaper had an article by Michael Meacher, British MP for many years until last June. It was called "This War on Terrorism is Bogus" and it was like reading a condensed version of DU. I mean he really lays it all out there - the PNAC report - Cheney's energy task force - early warnings of 9/11 like attacks - the US Air Force's failure to react on 9/11 - oil supplies and ownership.

All around the world, this is big news. A long time MP comes right out and says Bush LIHOP and not a word - not one MF'ing word - in the US media at all.

So I made a couple hundred copies of MP Meacher's article and passed them out today and am taking a break right now from e-mailing and faxing it all over.

Yeah - I'm pissed. And frustrated. They can't keep getting away with it because the stakes are too high. It isn't for nothing.

Good news is, they're getting scared.

<snip>

Just as Britain and the US send more troops to Iraq and seek international help to restore stability, it has emerged that Mr Blair, almost alone among leaders of major nations, is to stay away from the opening of the UN General Assembly later this month. The development is bound to increase the Prime Minister's isolation following his decision to join the US in going to war without a UN resolution, and has led to speculation that he is reluctant to leave the country at a time when his conduct is under examination in the Hutton inquiry.

Downing Street yesterday refused to comment on the grounds that it does not disclose the Prime Minister's movements in advance. But this has not applied to other international summits, where his attendance has been announced well in advance.

21. The Meacher op-ed is dynamite!!
Did you notice this companion piece? Most of it just quotes from Meacher's op-ed, but in the middle of this article comes the US response, or at least the US embassy in the UK response. I wonder what kind of play it will get in Europe and the rest of the world. Even if the US media wants to ignore it, they may not be able to if this causes a furor. (hope, hope) I too am e-mailing Meacher's article widely. Thanks SO much for posting the link.

Meacher sparks fury over claims on September 11 and Iraq war
Fury over Meacher claims
Ewen MacAskill, diplomatic editor
Saturday September 6, 2003
The Guardian

<<The US government last night expressed abhorrence at Mr Meacher's views. An embassy spokesman in London said: "Mr Meacher's fantastic allegations - especially his assertion that the US government knowingly stood by while terrorists killed some 3,000 innocents in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia - would be monstrous, and monstrously offensive, if they came from someone serious or credible.

"My nation remains grateful for the steadfast friendship of the British people and Her Majesty's government as we face, together, the serious challenges that have arisen since September 11 2001."

Downing Street also distanced itself from the views of an MP who only a few months ago was in the government. "The prime minister has responded to those who argue it was about oil," a spokeswoman said, adding that oil profits from Iraq are to be fed back into the country's development.

Former ministers such as Robin Cook and Clare Short have criticised the British government for misleading the public over the reasons for going to war. But Mr Meacher has gone much further in his analysis of US and British motives.>>

24. Bait and switch...
...is when you promise one thing and deliver another. The Bushies can get away with this for two reasons:

Congress has literally given up on their Constitutional responsibilities: oversight - checks and balances.

Many still won't believe it...but the Free Press is no longer free.

- Bush* never would have made it into office if the New Media hadn't covered up his past and attacked his opponents...pretending all the time that they were 'independent' and non-partisan.

- But the saddest part of this whole fiasco is the way the Democrats have responded to the challenge by hiding in the shadows when they're not kissing his ring.
