Has Shrub Jumped the Shark?
His SS privatization scheme seems to be in trouble (AARP will fight it); his medical liability speeches are going nowhere (I don't think anyone believes frivolous lawsuits are actually what's driving up health insurance), and the morale of our soldiers is awful. Are we seeing the beginning of the end, or am I delusional?

Very kind of you. I was just going to post it on my blog, which is outdated as well and needs revamping.

If I fi9gure out how to post the image, I'll put your blog link up, too.

I tried to host your pic elsewhere when I couldn't post it, but no joy. It must be protected. Can I just screen capture it?

that he did not win the election in the first place. He started at < 50% and will be going downhill from there.

the 2006 elections are coming up and house and some senators face election in 2006. SS will kill the senior vote and they know it.

No IMHO he is a lame duck president just does not know it today

splains it all............

The aforementioned expression refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." The rest is history.

12. RE: Frivolous lawsuits...take a look if you'd like at the commentary
that was in our paper today. It was written by my doctor whom I respect very much. He is young and very good. I do believe that a lot of good doctors are leaving their professions because of the malpractice insurance premiums. Note what he says at the end about insurance companies. Sounds pretty gutsy to me for a doctor to speak out like this. Wonder if he would make a good politician for the DEM party? :-)

15. Ah, but are the malpractice insurance premiums
due to frivolous lawsuits or greedy insurance companies? I personally think this is a red herring thrown out by those said companies. Truly frivolous lawsuits are generally either thrown out in court or awarded small compensation. On the other hand, to cap EVERY lawsuit award is a very serious suppresion of consumer rights. No company, or service provider, would cut into profit for safety's sake unless they had to; unless their profit was threatened though legal means. To take this consumer right away would be the same as awarding companies and service providers a safety net to provide shoddy goods or services with impunity.

18. I was at a town hall meeting last year w/ Sen. Bill Nelson
There was also a lobbyist for the medical proffesion in the audience.

He asked if Sen Nelson was going to support a bill to cap lawsuit awards and attorney fees. The Senator said absolutely not. The insurance companies will be laughing all the way to the bank. He should know what he's talking about, as he was Florida's insurance commissioner, before the Senate.

It turns out that Florida did pass a bill, with all kinds of promises for reduced malpractice rates. Shortly after the bill passed, the insurance companies said they would CAP premiums for a year.

36. Absolutely
Shrub is done, weird as that may sound. What possible reason could anyone have for backing him any further? The Congresscritters are going to be looking at 2006 and the presidential hopefuls are going to be looking at 2008. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Cheney will run, even if he's alive, and anyone who fucks around with Social Security is going to have the wrath of God down around his ears in the next election.

Still, that shouldn't discourage the Bushoids. They can still kill all sorts of darkies and wogs before they're done, and fuck the environment and the economy into a cocked hat.

Bush himself, though, is yesterday's news. His so-called "political capital" is as useful as an over-the-limit Mastercard.
