Impressive Edwards ads in South Carolina
Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 07:38 PM by John_Shadows_1
I'm not supporting Edwards (though I like the guy), but I'm very impressed with the ads he's running - a couple came on today during the football games (good timing down here). He was in front of a closed-down mill, and said he would stop the flow of jobs overseas by stopping tax breaks to corporations that exported employment. Then he said he's give tax breaks to companies that stayed here. That's smart - he's hitting economic issues in a region that's been hurt by NAFTA. It hits Bush where he's vulnerable. Even if his campaign doesn't succeed, he'll at least be getting these issues out there, and I think he's got some money to do that.

2. Edwards should run those ads here in the Midwest
Indiana has been particularly hard hit by plants being shutdown and the jobs being moved to Mexico.

NAFTA has been a bonanza for corporations, but a nightmare for the workers.

6. Indiana doesn't have a primary, the $$ spent wouldn't pay off
but that doesn't mean you shouldn't send him $$$

3. Been watching them for two weeks.
He's hitting the right tone for this state, that's for sure. He's a smart, sincere man and it shows in his ads.

4. Glad to hear it!
I receive the GRV/SPA stations on my cable, and I will be looking forward to seeing John. Sounds like a wise tact he is taking.

BTW, I was hiking in Upstate SC this afternoon. Have you ever seen the Yellow Branch Falls in Oconee Co.??? WOW....

5. Edwards not my first choice,
but I think his heart is in the right place. I think he may be a bit early though in seeking to be president. What's the rush?

7. he's the only one who is the right guy to take on Bush
the fact that they both were pols for 6 years before running is a plus

because you can hold up that huge contrast between the genuine and the phoney

before politics:

Edwards - Moved from town to town in SC, GA, and NC, worked and paid his way through High-school, state-college(where he finished at the top of his class) and married his girlfriend after public Law school.
Became most successful lawyer in NC history.

Bush - Rich Oilmans son. Partyer, slacker in Andover prepschool, Partyer, slacker at Yale. Partyer, slacker in Champaign devision of TANG. Drunk/failed bussinessman until 40's.

got into politics:

Edwards - after his pride and joy Wade was killed in accident, deciding he needed to do something that didn't remind him of it as personal injury law did, and commited himself to run for US senate, to help people like those he grew up with.

Bush - Group of fathers friends used his name to take the governors seat.

political career highlights

Edwards - Patient's bill of rights, Pickering and Ashcroft interragation, Impeachment defense, 9-11 reaction, recovery legislation, important privacy, environmental, and coporate-regulation legislation, worker's shareholders bill of rights etc etc.

Bush - Deregulating Enron, fake Texas Miracle, envoronmental deregulation, execution record

-----------

Edwards is the anti-bush, because he's shown that he is the candidate who is the most regulatory, and Bush is the most corpratist president since hoover
