Recommendation for sending donations for relief efforts.

Dr. Nagaratnam Ranjithan is a doctor in my area and the President of the Tamil Relief Organization. He founded this organization to aid victims of the war in Sri Lanka. This doctor saved my mother's life and we have the utmost respect and trust of this man.

He is leading a group of doctors to his homeland of Sri Lanka to help the victims of the disaster. He is purchasing all supplies in Southern India where it is much cheaper. The story in the local newspaper is at http://www.times-news.com/ This site requires free registration (I have requested that they place Dr. Ranjithan's story outside of the members area). I believe this would be a good way to donate even a small amount and ensure the most effective use of the funds.

and will send a check because I believe money has a better chance of going directly (w/o overhead) to those who need it most. I also support any doctors who are willing to leave their well-paying practices to deliver life-saving skills.

I wish they had a paypal account.
