WASHINGTON (AP) - The top 10 contractors with the Homeland Security Department from Oct. 1, 2003 through July, according to department records:

1. Integrated Coast Guard Systems (joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman), $424,343,705

2. Boeing Service Co., $256,735,023

3. Unisys Corp. (UIS), $256,155,510

4. InVision Technologies (now a General Electric subsidiary), $177,915,472

5. Cooperative Personnel Services, $125,611,589

6. Michael Baker Jr. Corp., $110,917,282

7. General Dynamics Decision Systems, $83,454,361

8. Lockheed Martin Technology Systems, $71,737,625

9. Vertex Aerospace L.L.C., $69,507,268

10. Covenant Aviation Security, L.L.C., $56,000,000

1. How many of these are owned in part (or whole) by Carlysle Group?

3. One thing I found:
"It should be noted that the CEO of the Carlyle Management Group, Edward Ewing, was once the vice president of Lockheed."

4. Also this:
"Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin has completed its acquisition of Sippican Holdings, a maker of naval electronics systems, from District-based The Carlyle Group."

The business will operate as an independent company under the name, Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., with locations in Texas, California, Georgia and Florida."

"Vought is one of the world's largest aerostructures subcontractors with estimated annual sales of over $1 billion. Its major customers include The Boeing Company and Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation."

2. General Dynamics is big in Texas; maybe Lockheed-Martin, too.
It sure does pay to grease the cloven hooves of the bushes.
