Thailand delayed warning over Tsunami
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=3934784

"The department did issue warnings of the impending tidal wave Sunday, but broadcasts beamed to tourist resorts in the country’s south underestimated the threat, and a website caution was not posted until three hours after the first deluge hit southern Thailand’s resorts."

1. The Indian Ocean needs a real tsunami warning system
The Pacific is the only ocean that has one.

2. I was in Kauai in the '90's and we had at
least two tsunami warnings without tsunami's appearing because of Quakes around Japan..it was no problem Not to have the tsunamis appear.

And now look at the tourist problem they have.

3. exactly
it wasn't worth it. If tourists knew they would be warned in time to avoid a natural disaster there wouldn't be a problem. People will never vacation in this area again....even after development and advanced technology on warning systems...

4. I wouldn't say not any people..
I talked to my son last night on Kauai and he's going back to Thailand on January 11th to see his girlfriend in Bangkok for two weeks and then will return in March and they will go down to Phuket where he thinks they will be back in business and wants to "throw some money their way". That's the plan anyway.

He's talked to some friends in Thailand and they think things will be up and running soon due to the industriousness of the Thai people.
