The press conference where Bush has the large disk saying: Western Whitehouse, Crawford, Texas is actually the Crawford High School Gymnasium. His photo ops "on the ranch" are never indoors, they usually involve Shrub cutting brush or mountain biking. The whole ranch is probably just a cardboard cut out. We can see you Bush, you aren't fooling anybody except those morans that voted for you, everyone knows you are just "playing cowboy" down there.

Here are some more pictures of the gymnasium when Tony Blair went to Crawford.

3. About that 'ranch"
One thing that rankles me still is how state of the art alternate energy makes the ranch self sustaining. The same technology denied the American public even in concept is as much evidence in Bush's hideaway as in the dwellings of provident Saudi princes. The only way I learned this was in the naively upbeat article in some architecture mag way back.

6. The idiots that support and voted for him really do
think that it is a real RANCH. Wouldn't it be truly wonderful if we could get REAL pictures and post them everywhere? I would contribute dollars for some brave photographer.

10. Is that for survivalist purposes?
That would be my guess. Self-sustaining in case of catastrophe. They would never do it for reasons of conservation or expense.

23. I think so, too
They're all set up for whatever happens. It's convinced some people that a Peak Oil crash is more than a kooky theory.

He can be anywhere he wants to be as long as he carries that stupid sign around with him. Hell, we only "hear" what they want us to know anyway...

How about a photo op on a horse, George? I dare you. We don't have any pics of you on a horse, George. Just you driving that pickup with your hat on. Cowboy my ass.

9. He can drive on the "ranch", even with a
suspended license, I think. He can't drive on public roads if he has a suspended license, though (does he?).

Yeah, I recall that write-up about him telling Putin that Putin could visit the stables and ride, but Georgie-Boy wasn't into it that day. Yeah, right.

8. The "Western White House" motif
is a PR invention to make it look like these are "working vacations." More fiction from the fictional president.

14. but there is a website (link).....with floorplans, etc...
http://www.westernwhitehouse.org/

The Western White House is the private ranch home of President and Mrs. George W. Bush. Located in the remote, charming hamlet of Crawford, Texas, the Western White House is a modest and photogenic reflection of the Bush family's folksy, down-home authenticity. Completed in 1999, the Western White House was designed by President Bush himself, and is notable for its patriotic and evocative melding of architectural highlights from Baptist prayer halls, medium security penitentiaries, and antebellum tobacco plantations.

The First Lady Gives a Tour

Laura Bush explains restoration of native grasses and plants at the ranch to NPR's Ketzel Levine, left. (pay particular attention to her "garden" - I laughed my ass off - it looks almost as barren and cold as her husband's presidency)

22. That sure is one ugly house
and one small century old live oak. I think he cleared too much brush. What were they trying to "say" with that house? What was the Prince thinking. I've been in one of the "smaller" 7000sq ft homes in Kuwait, very beautiful.

25. Briefing signs
The little signs that they use at all the cabinet level briefings are a little dorky. It started with the Defense Dept, with a picture of the Pentagon on the sign, then the Whitehouse, the State Dept. and I think that H.H.S has one that is just an eagle, because nobody would recognize H.H.S.'s Washington D.C. headquarters, really lame. Here is the one for State:
