Got an idea about something.... |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-01-05 11:22 PM by Solon
You guys know how we always have refer to the Freepers as "Kool Aid" drinkers. I got an idea, why not make the drink more appropriate? Lets start calling them "Fanta Orange" drinkers instead. If you don't know the reference, here it is. Back before and during WW2, Coca Cola had a slight problem, see, they were selling Coca Cola branded drinks to Nazi Germany, but when war was declared against the U.S. they couldn't do that anymore, damned Trading with Enemy Act! So they came up with a solution to the problem, they marketed a new drink, exclusively for Germany, and that was Fanta Orange, so while our troops saw posters of GI's with the "Patriotic" drink, Coca Cola on them, Germans were seeing posters of the Nazi drink Fanta Orange. What do ya think? This is also a slam against those Gods awful commercials they came out with for that drink.

2. may i ask, is that their use of the term "final solution" or yours? |
|
if it is yours, may i please ask that you understand the enormity of that phrase, and reserve it for uses pertaining to unspeakable atrocities, as it was coined?
thank you.

I was using poetic lisence on that part, I'll edit it out, when looking at it that way, I can see how it would seem like I'm taking that Holocaust far too lightly.

4. thank you so much, Solon. |
|
i deeply appreciate your understanding.
on your original question, i think it is the perfection of the koolaid concept that makes it so meaningful and enduring. it might not need replacement.
though fanta-heads seems an entirely appropriate new concept, maybe for people even more aware of the vile positions they are taking?
peace!

7. I have always assumed that the reference to kool-aid |
|
was a reference to Jonestown. To me, it makes sense. They're drinking their own version of the poison that * and his good buddies are putting out. I knew nothing of Fanta, or its origin. So, to me at least, kool-aid drinking is more appropriate.

8. Ah, but think about this... |
|
Coca Cola duped both sides, at least the ones who are loyalists to both. Coke made millions off the suffering of both Germans and Americans during WW2, plus they were treasonous in their dealings with Nazi Germany. I think that would be the same as how the Republican Party is duping their own side. Unlike Jonestown, they don't drink their own poison, the live off it.
