I Heard Bush going to Germany Jan 24
heard it from my daughter, military family, stationed in Germany. That it is on the qt, and supposed purpose is to help build troop morale. Says German newspapers reporting on it along lines of No Bush or Bush Go Home. Asked her to send me newspaper, want to see it for myself.

Meantime, too tired tonite, but thought I would check online German newspapers to see what I can find.

2. *g* It's not to build troop morale. It's the normal polite first visit
after the election. The 22nd he'll visit Brussels/EU.

It has been said that he doesn't want to go to Berlin because they are afraid of great demonstrations. They have not said which town he'll go to - Dresden, Heidelberg and another place have been mentioned - but we will find out *harhar* I'll be there to greet him wherever he'll slink to.

11. Germans Resent Bush’s Coming Visit
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 06:50 AM by cal04
Bush' Iraq war and foreign policies stirred anger among Europeans.
BERLIN, December 29 (IslamOnline.net) – Anti-globalization groups and peace movements in Germany are planning massive protests against US President George W. Bush's scheduled visit to the European country next February.

The German coordination committee of the anti-globalization groups and peace movements said in a statement, a copy of which was sent to IslamOnline.net Tuesday, December 28, that it is planning to launch a European campaign titled “Europe resents Bush” early January, one month before Bush's visit to Germany, to highlight large scale rejection of US policies and Bush's visit to the country.

The statement, signed by Peter Schtroienski, the coordination committee spokesman urged citizens in Germany and other European countries which Bush is planning to visit to take to the streets to protest the American President's visit to the continent.

The statement said that no other American President except Bush had succeeded in drawing such a degree of stinging anger of the Europeans Thanks to Bush, the Europeans no longer take to the streets to welcome visiting US Presidents as they used to, the statement read. The campaign came shortly after the German declaration that the US President is expected to make a short visit to the EU heavyweight on February 23, following his participation in the NATO summit, due in Brussels a day earlier.

(unfortunately in my eyes, but well). He will try some more extortion and bullying; with the exception of Iraq it has always worked in the past.

Peace movement and other groups are planning "most massive" protests. I hope this month they can agree on one central protest instead of many small ones - it will lokk better on TV.
